As of Thursday morning, the Pittsburgh Steelers have moved on from multiple coaches, which includes offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner. On the other side of the ball, defensive coordinator Keith Butler is negotiating a new deal with the team:
#Steelers are discussing a new contract with defensive coordinator Keith Butler, who at 64, plans to go year-to-year, per source. Some details would still have to be worked out this week but signs point to Butler's return.

It will be a year-to-year deal, and nothing is set in stone, but the it seems Butler will be in Pittsburgh for at least another year. Butler coached a defense this year that led the NFL in sacks for the fourth straight season as well as being tied for first in interceptions. They were also second in total turnovers, seventh in yards allowed, and second in points allowed. Despite this awesome performance on the season, there was some skepticism about the team retaining Butler after yet another porous effort from the defense in their first postseason appearance since 2017. It seems the Steelers are comfortable keeping Butler on to run the defense. We will update on the contract as more information unfolds.
