The Steelers offense finished third in the NFL as a unit, but untimely play calls, and disagreements between Ben Roethlisberger and Haley likely factored into Mike Tomlin's decision. Mike Tomlin released this statement just a few minutes ago.
“I have made the decision to not renew the contract for offensive coordinator Todd Haley. I would like to thank Todd for his contributions to our offense the past six years, and we wish him the best in his coaching future.”
The leading candidate to replace Haley is quarterbacks coach Randy Fichtner.
Fichtner and Roethlisberger have a close relationship and have spent several seasons together.
