Well SteelerNation, Week 4 just got a lot more interesting. Normally Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin participates in his normal Tuesday media session at noon, but that isn't the case today. Today it was postponed to the evening with the cause being the breaking news coming out of Tennessee. The Tennessee Titans are the first team to get hit with the a handful of positive COVID-19 tests (3 players, 5 personnel) since the season has started. The impact this has on the Week 4 for matchup with the Steelers is still on a day-to-day basis and yet to be determined.
Coach Tomlin opened his press conference saying the plan is to continue forward as if nothing has changed with the game on Sunday. They will continue with their normal Wednesday routine but everything is day-to-day as communication continues with the league about Sunday. He immediately dove into injuries stating the team has its normal bumps and bruises outside of Derek Watt (hamstring) and Marcus Allen (foot), both of which are considered doubtful. After being questioned about Diontae Johnson's health, he said he is still in concussion protocol and that will determine his availability. Tomlin stated this matchup will be a very demanding one, especially for their defense with how physical the Titans offensive line and running back are. When it comes to the Titans defense, Tomlin highlighted the Titans front four, specifically Jadeveon Clowney and how important it will be to neutralize him.
The big question of the press conference was if the league communicated to him or the organization if there is a possibility of moving the game to a later date. Tomlin stated he hasn't heard anything on that front but is sure the league is exploring all possibilities to safely play.
