Cardinals Request Interview with OL Coach

The Cardinals are once again looking to take from the Steelers coaching tree as they look for a replacement for Bruce Arians. Arians retired yesterday after three seasons as the head coach of the Cardinals.

This time they have requested to interview offensive line coach Mike Munchak. Munchak came over to the Steelers after the 2013 season when he was fired as head coach in Tennessee, and has been a key factor in developing several Steelers lineman. Most notably Kelvin Beachum a seventh round pick, and Alejandro Villanueva an undrafted free agent who made the transition from defense to offense.

With Munchak under contract any team that wishes to interview him must request permission from the Steelers. Generally the Steelers never block a coach from trying to move up the coaching chain.

During his press conference today, Mike Tomlin said that they approved the Cardinals request and Munchak is free to interview if he chooses.
