The COVID-19 pandemic is still leaving a few uncertainties for the start of the NFL season, but the Pittsburgh Steelers continue to prepare for the start of the season.

One of those ways being, getting some new members of the coaching staff ready to coach the 2020 season.

Ike Hilliard is one of those additions, an experienced wide receivers coach in the NFL. Hilliard was hired to replace Ray Sherman, who took over after the sudden passing of Daryl Drake.

The other addition to the coaching staff is Matt Canada, who will come in coaching the quarterback room.

Both Canada and Hilliard were accepted into positions in the off-season, and Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin says he already feels pretty comfortable with the work they've done with the team.

“It’s been really good. Those guys were part of our staff even prior to the shelter in place, so we had a lot of opportunity to work with those guys in an office-like setting," Tomlin said on the Steelers' website. “I’ve known both men a number of years. A lot of the guys on our staff have. So there are a lot of things to call upon."

Tomlin says there's been years of familiarity with the two coaches, but the working relationship will play out once the season gets started.

“Much like the instruction and the introduction of the players, we’ve been able to utilize a lot of platforms to aid in getting them settled into their responsibilities," Tomlin said. “We’re excited about having both men, and so far, so good. But like all of us right now, we haven’t faced any really challenges or really any real adversity that comes with playing and coaching football."

Until the season starts, all we can do is hope that both of these hires makeout to help the team win. Fans seem to be excited for Canada, seeing that he could succeed Randy Fichtner as the offensive coordinator in the long run.
