Ben Roethlisberger was limited in practice last week due to being on the COVID19 Reserve list, and turns out it could've been a blessing in disguise.

Roethlisberger spent his time off last week resting his sore knees, and his surgically repaired elbow. Roethlisberger wasn't allowed to participate in any on field practice activities until Saturday and didn't throw any passes until Friday.

"I didn't do anything. I threw about 50 balls on Friday, and that was it. I wanted to kind of let it rest just to kind of -- at that point in the season when not throwing is a good thing. I iced it a lot," Roethlisberger said.

Roethlisberger had noticably good zip on his passes on Sunday. Likely due to combating the fierce winds at Heinz Field, but a fresh arm surely helped him too.

"Like I said, my arm rested for the most part. I spent a lot of the week icing. I got to thank Dawn Joy for the gel ice packs for my knees and my elbow. Incrediwear, I wore their tights all week to help my knees out. So really just felt nice and rested coming into today. I tried to talk Coach into seeing if I could take next week off too."

Coach Mike Tomlin confirmed that Roethlisberger and he did have a conversation about this topic. He grinned when asked if Ben Roethlisberger, true to his word Sunday, asked if he could practice less to maintain arm strength

"We did have that conversation. I'll acknowledge it was a very brief one. I will see him at practice on Thursday," Tomlin said during his Tuesday press conference.

So looks like Roethlisberger will continue to have Wednesdays off, but will be out there on Thursday. But throwing less during practice is surely on Tomlin's mind. We shall see what goes on in the coming weeks.
