Robert Spillane was placed on Injured Reserve yesterday and Ulysees Gilbert III was activated from the same list in a corresponding move yesterday. Not only will UG3 be rostered, but the Pittsburgh Steelers have created some packages to utilize him this game. This helps gaining another inside linebacker, since Vince Williams will miss this game on the Covid-19 Reserve List. Inside linebacker Tegray Scales was also promoted from the practice squad to provide some needed depth.
Maurkice Pouncey is back and ready to man the center duties again this week. James Conner also returned from the Covid-19 Reserve List and will start at running back.
Joe Haden (concussion) missed practice all week and will not play.
Chris Boswell and Steven Nelson were severely missed last week, but will return and play tonight.
Chase Claypool and Chris Wormley missed some time this week with an illness, but both are back and ready to play tonight.
I believe the inactive players this week will be:
- Josh Dobbs: 3rd quarterback inactive
- Joe Haden: Listed as out and will not play
- Derwin Gray: Pouncey is back so someone on the offensive line should be inactive
- Kevin Rader: When Vance McDonald and Eric Ebron are healthy, the Steelers only carry 2 TEs
- Cassius Marsh: Hits day 5 for his roster quarantine today. Since he didn't practice, he probably won't play today. Carlos Davis was inactive last week so he'd be another option if Marsh is activated.
