Let’s Get Ready to Rumble...

As the Pittsburgh Steelers look to begin the 2021 NFL season with their first home preseason game, fans and front office alike hope for another double-digit win season for the second season in a row. With rookies such as first-round pick Najee Harris and others signing their first professional contract, they are hopeful to get some playing time in the NFL’s three preseason games. In the team’s one and only home preseason game, the Detroit Lions will travel 300 miles to the great city of Pittsburgh to take on the boys in black and gold.

With the Lions bringing in multiple new players and coaching staff, the team seems hopeful to start off the decade with a full-scale rebuild. Multiple new additions to the coaching staff include head coach Dan Campbell, offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn, and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, among many other staff members.

On the other hand, the Steelers are an organization that is famous for keeping its coaches longer than most other franchises. Head Coach Mike Tomlin has been with the black and gold since 2007 and has helped deliver multiple playoff appearances and wins, including a Super Bowl  XLIII victory.

The Lions are famous for recycling their staff while the Steelers like to keep their own in the building and ultimately, this matchup looks interesting with that storyline in mind.

Historically, the Steelers have had exponentially more success compared to the Lions, the difference is six to zero (Super Bowl wins).

On August 21, 2021, both of these teams will take on each other in hopes to get a new look at some players that can help fill out the roster and also allow for some first-year players to get their feet wet.

On a personal note, this will hopefully be my first Steelers game as well as my first professional football game that I attend. As it stands right now, tickets are starting less than $50 a piece which is perfect for a night out! Hope to see you all there and also hopeful for a Steelers win!
