Najee Harris Lists Quarterback Wish List

Recently in an interview with CBS SportsPittsburgh Steelers starting running back, Najee Harris was asked who he wanted to be the next starting quarterback for the Steelers. With Ben Roethlisberger announcing his retirement last week, the most important question this off-season is who will be the successor to no. 7 and Harris has obviously been thinking about that question:

Harris was not bashful with his answer as he said, "There are names that pass my mind. Deshaun Watson is always in there. Aaron Rodgers obviously I like. Even guys like Jimmy G (Jimmy Garappolo), I like him too." Harris went on to add, "I just want a guy who wants to come in and compete. I think that'll fit the offense. Whoever is over there, I am just happy to play with whoever." Harris obviously will have very little, if any, say in who the Steelers will trot out there behind center in 2022, but it is interesting to hear his opinion on the ever so important matter.

There are a bevy of quarterbacks who will be options for the Steelers this off-season. However, it is interesting that Harris did not name any of the current quarterbacks on the Steelers' roster. It's no secret that the Steelers are intrigued with Mason Rudolph and Dwayne Haskins, but it is unclear whether or not they trust them to quarterback a team for an entire season. Both have their pros and cons, but it's not exactly a ringing endorsement from your teammates when they don't even mention your name in conversations about who they want to play quarterback next year.

Whoever ends up playing quarterback for the Steelers next season will clearly have huge shoes to fill. However, it will be a little easier with a great running back in Harris and an above average receiving core.
