If you're like us here at SteelerNation, you start your Pittsburgh Steelers preseason countdown in February. What began as a catastrophic season ended in four straight wins, and we can't help but feel like we were left wanting more. Now that offseason moves are in full effect and the NFL Draft is quickly approaching, the countdown is reaching its final days, and our favorite Steelers are back in the facility and getting ready to go for the 2023 season.

Pickett's Back And Ready To Go
Quarterback Kenny Pickett is back in Pittsburgh and ready to work leading up to his second year as the signal-caller for the black and gold. The young quarterback out of the University of Pittsburgh has quickly become a fan favorite as he led the team to a major comeback from a 2-6 start to the season. Pickett doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon. Shortly after the season ended, the quarterback was already back to work with quarterback Coach Tony Racioppi. Racioppi commended Pickett for his hard work this offseason.
Nobody will ever out work, out prepare and out compete KP. Been a fantastic almost 3 months straight of work! https://t.co/bhSFRcMPxM

Let's Check In On His Favorite Targets
Receiver Diontae Johnson and running back Najee Harris were photographed entering the building. Despite being the top target, Johnson had a disappointing season. This is mostly due to failing to score a touchdown throughout the entirety of the 2022 season. While critics love to write off Johnson, we can't forget that he is one of the most skilled route runners in the NFL. Former Steelers' quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has no concerns about Johnson's future.
"You want big touchdowns and big plays, let's give it a year. Because Diontae, he can't be covered. When he gets in and out of breaks, it's unstoppable."

Harris will be entering his third year in the league. Pittsburgh fell in love with Harris between his goofy media antics and solid on-field production. Despite a minor drop-off during his sophomore campaign, Harris is projected to be one of the top rushers in the league this season. A big concern by many was the workload the young running back took on. Luckily, Pittsburgh found a steal in undrafted running back, Jaylen Warren. Warren surpassed Benny Snell and Anthony McFarland Jr, earning his spot as the second-string running back. Between the continuity of Pickett entering his second season and relying on Warren to lighten his workload, Harris should be good to go for another strong season.

Missing In Action
Not photographed were two major offensive pieces: George Pickens and Pat Freiermuth. Freiermuth had a productive sophomore campaign with 732 yards on 63 receptions with two touchdowns. The tight end out of Pennsylvania State University has built a strong connection with Pickett and is heavily relied on, especially during crucial third-down conversions. It's a matter of time before Freiermuth joins Travis Kelce, George Kittle and Mark Andrews as one of the best tight ends in the league.

Pickens made a big name for himself during his rookie season, especially with his knack for making unbelievable contested catches. Pickens and Johnson headline the wide-receiver room, with other noteworthy players including Calvin Austin III. Austin III was drafted in 2022 alongside Pickett and Pickens, but he was ruled out with injury for the season. The pressure is high for the receiver out of the University of Memphis this season, as the Steelers have parted ways with most of the receiving room.
We're excited to see the team back together and getting ready to go for the 2023 season here at SteelerNation. Who do you think will have the biggest breakout season? Let us know in the comments below.
