The Pittsburgh Steelers are 7-6 and currently sit in sixth place in the AFC standings. Everything seems to be falling apart within the organization and everyone is at fault. The spark that was once in the city of Pittsburgh at the beginning of the season is now gone and the old Steeler Way seems to be fading. But with Head Coach Mike Tomlin's past track record, the Steelers should find a way to finish the season above .500 and possibly make the playoffs, despite everything collapsing.

Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin yells in the direction of one of his players during warmups prior to a 2022 preseason game at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, PA.
The Steelers Should Not Tolerate This Player's Behavior Any Longer
Although Tomlin has been the one taking a lot of the heat lately for the team's struggles, he is not the only one to blame. The players seem to be checked out of it and don't seem to care. This is why many people are throwing the blame on Tomlin because he is allowing this attitude, and his voice of reason may be getting stale. But when it comes down to the nitty gritty, it is the players that play the game, not Tomlin.
One player's actions that should not be tolerated anymore is wide receiver George Pickens. With his childish behavior happening almost every single game (whether it is pouting, or just looking like he doesn't even want to be there), change is needed. Recently in Tomlin's weekly press conference, he would confront the issue that is becoming Pickens. He would even go on to call it a problem and almost unprofessional.
"It is a problem because it's not solution oriented. We're all frustrated, but we got to manage our frustrations in a professional, mature way and when it's not done that way, it's not necessarily pushing us toward solutions."
It is good to hear that Tomlin is condemning the actions that have been occurring and is a step in the right direction. But actions should have consequences and just saying that it is a problem will not change anything. Going out and benching someone like Pickens as a statement could be what this team needs to show that you are serious as a head coach. It could be what brings everyone back together and look competitive again.

In the past, Tomlin has been able to put up with the past actions and diva attitude of some of his players with little to no repercussions. From everything that Antonio Brown put the team through, to the "TikTok Era" that we saw just a couple of years ago, Steelers fans have now seen it all. These types of antics make you miss what was once in the city of Pittsburgh with the leadership of guys like Hines Ward and Heath Miller.

To ensure that this kind of attitude doesn't continue, leaders on the team need to step up and say something. They need to bring back the Steeler Way that was once there - where the team felt and looked like brothers rather than a bunch of divas chasing their own popularity who don't want to contribute anything to the team.

Former Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown's NFL career ended in the most bizarre of ways, as he took off his jersey and left the field in 2021.
If all else comes to fail with Pickens, the Steelers could look to move on from him and possibly pick up a wide receiver through the draft or free agency. Since he said "free me" on a recent social media post, why don't the Steelers follow through with his request and get someone that actually wants to be here to help the team win. It could be used as an example to hopefully bring a change to the team.
