Even though the Pittsburgh Steelers are much healthier than they have been throughout the season, they will always be happy to add more depth to the team. There are still a few players on Injured Reserve (IR) that they are anticipating a return for. With six games left in their brutal end-of-season gauntlet, the Steelers need all the able bodies they can find to push through and prove that they can be a contender in the AFC.

As veteran Tyson Alualu struggled to start the 2022 season, the Steelers turned to Montravius Adams to replace him in the starting lineup.
The Steelers officially announced that veteran defensive tackle Montravius Adams has been designated for return, meaning that his 21-day practice window is officially open.

Adams played in each of the first seven games of the 2024 season for the Steelers. He racked up eight tackles, one sack, and one tackle for loss during that time. Those are very solid numbers if you take his snap count into consideration, as he only played 25% of the time defensively during those seven contests.

The Steelers initially signed Adams in the middle of the 2021 season after Tyson Alualu struggled in the first half of the season. He broke his foot back in 2020, and that clearly had an effect on his game after that. While Adams did not fix all the issues with the defense at the time of his signing, he has since become a regular depth option that can be relied on whenever he is needed.
As seen with guys like Cory Trice Jr. and Tyler Matakevich, the Steelers will most likely not officially activate Adams for their upcoming Week 13 game. He will probably get at least a week or two to knock the rust off in practice and prove that he is ready to go. Either way, the Steelers will be happy to get their big defensive tackle back.
Other Steelers Candidate To Come Off IR
As mentioned before, Trice was not activated from the Designated To Return list immediately. After missing two weeks, he will be expected to be activated before they face the Cincinnati Bengals. He has been a full participant since he was allowed to practice again. The Steelers desperately need him in the cornerback room again.

Steelers' Cory Trice Jr. makes a tackle for loss against the Houston Texans during the 2024 preseason.
After missing his entire rookie season to injury, Trice came back in 2024 and proved that he was a true force whenever he is on the field. He had a key interception against the Denver Broncos in Week 2 to help secure a win. His injury history is a major concern, but when he is on the field, he is a monster.
