Here Is How The Steelers Bring The Hype To Away Games

Playing away games in any sport is challenging, and there is a very good and logical reason why a phenomenon known as “homecourt advantage” exists. Most sports leagues and competitions, big and small, annual or rare, utilize the rules of teams playing at least one game at home and one game away against the same team. It makes sense, especially at the highest level, when the best teams and players compete against each other. Performing at the same field/court you train on and in front of your home city’s fans is a far cry from being surrounded by hostile spectators wishing you the worst of luck and their team to demolish you.

Of course, not every sport or league has it at the same level. In some sports, or at least some games, away fans make the trip to their team’s games. City rivalries are the best examples because the opposition’s fans still live in your city, and it is hard to play at your stadium. However, a select few teams in certain countries and sports are known for their loyal fans cheering them on and creating hostile environments even on the road. One such example is the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League.

American football is famous for its rivalries across the cities, and the Steelers are among the most difficult games on the schedule. So, how exactly do they bring the hype to away games? If you are a fan of the sport and the league, read on to learn more about this, as it can help you with your American football betting experience when the 2025 season starts in a few months. The best time to prepare for it is now, as you evaluate which teams have better chances on the road and who plays best at home.

Making Away Games Feel Like Home Games

Historically, the Steelers have been one of the most successful teams in the league, and that reputation precedes them to this day. It is never easy to play against a franchise that has won in the past because the spirit of winning and the pride for past glory always linger. It may be the glory of the old days that does not matter much in the present, but having six Super Bowl trophies in your franchise sure helps when playing anyone else. This is one reason why Pittsburgh players are so tough to beat and why the hype is so big wherever they play outside of their stadium. The opposing players and fans know who is coming to town. They know they have fewer titles (or the same amount in the case of the Patriots), and that is enough to make them a little bit more nervous.

Their history shows a 6-2 finals record. They are a dynamic and disciplined team with a great coach, great and historic ownership, and no losing season in 18 years under Mike Tomlin. Most of them included playoff appearances as well. Going up against them reminds the other teams that they do not have some of those things, so the response is hate. On the other hand, Steelers players and fans are content with who they are and what they have achieved, and they do not feel they need to prove themselves to anyone. They play freely, they are committed, and they do not have a chip on their shoulder. They play every game with the same intensity, away or home, and their fans cheer on like that, too.

Some say the fans are misunderstood. They do not bother or hate unless bothered or hated back. They are loyal, they stick with the team just like the citizens have stuck with the city for centuries. It is easy to identify with the team when you are a member of the hardworking culture of the middle class that has built the country. It is popular to hate them, just like it is popular to hate the LA Lakers, Boston Celtics, New York Yankees, etc. They are historically great. They have the titles, the hall of farmers, and a long and successful history, so the fans behave differently than those of the teams who lack these things. Steelers players and fans carry this with honor and behave and feel like they have deserved it.

It is not just any franchise they are a part of and support. It is one of the best, so why not behave and bring the hype along with you, like it is not? And once more, they are playing well, and after a 10-7 season, they are poised to make a bigger push in the 2025 season. It will only get more hype starting in September, and the opposing teams and fans will have to deal with it.

How to Bet on NFL Games?

Like with any other sport, there is the right reason how to bet on NFL game. From different bet types to knowing how to get started, there are a few things that you must know before you decide to test your knowledge and fandom and attempt to win some money. Regardless of who your favorite team is, sports wagering is about making smart decisions first and being a fan second. Stats and odds dictate the best options, not your heart and passion. With that in mind, let us explore some of the most common types of bets.

First of all, there is the point spread where you bet on the team to win or lose by a set amount of points. For example, the Steelers are -3.5 and the Patriots are +3.5. Here, the Steelers must win by 4+ points to “cover” the spread and the bet to win. Alternatively, the Dolphins can lose by up to 3 points or win to cover the bet. It is a popular bet when you can guess or expect the score, and with teams that have set plays and a system.

Moneyline bets simply involve picking the winner. If the Steelers are -150 and the Ravens are +130, it means a bet of $150 wins you $100 on the former, and a bet of $100 wins you $130 on the latter. It is a simple bet that awards betting on the underdog and also one that pays smaller percentages for betting on the favorite. It can be combined with spreads for higher winnings.

The over/under (total) bets are for combined score, like 46.5, where the score needs to be 47 or more for over and 46 or less for under to win. Parlay bets combine multiple bets into one, where all of them must win for the payout. The higher the risk, the higher the reward. You can combine a moneyline, a total, and a point spread, for example, and if it passes, you will get a considerable amount even for a smaller wager.

Finally, there are prop and outright (future) bets. Props are specific events and moments in a game, like whether or not Pat Mahomes will throw 3+ TDs in a game or who will win the coin toss. Outright bets are long term, season bets where you pick the winners. The earlier you make them, ideally before the season starts, the more they pay. Super Bowl winners and MVPs are the most common options with future bets.

NFL Betting Advice and Tips

Are you unsure about how to approach the whole sports betting thing, where and how to start, and what to do? Now that you know about the bet types, the only thing left to talk about is how to get started. First of all, you must pick a leading sportsbook, a true, proven professional like Stake that has everything that a sports betting platform needs to have. From promos and bonuses to a wide variety of bets and good odds, they must check all the boxes before you decide to go with them. It is the single most important step at the start of your wagering journey.

Next up, you have to understand what the odds mean and how they are portrayed. American odds and decimals mean different things, and you must know how much risk you are taking and how much you can win based on the numbers being shown. Some markets and platforms favor the American format (-110, +200, etc.), while others are in decimals (1.4, 2.6), etc.

Bankroll management is a crucial thing in gambling and sports betting. You must decide how much you can afford to lose and not hurting your financial well being. You can set limits and not go over them once you burn through your daily amount, or use unit betting where a single unit is 1% of your bankroll to keep track more easily.

Finally, you have to know the sport and everything around it to be good at sports betting. For NFL and Steelers games, for example, you must keep up with the news regarding injuries, trades, weather conditions, matchup history, coaching tendencies, offensive and defensive schemes, and a lot more. Never go simply with your gut feeling or team loyalty because stats and circumstances do not care about those. It is data over emotion, and make sure to remember it.
