The Pittsburgh Steelers recently held another round of media availability after their big win against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, October 14th. There were many incredible takeaways from this game as a whole, with the Steelers dominating on all sides of the ball. For what its worth, however, there was a major piece to the Steelers' success on Sunday that can't be understated, adding to how well the team looked overall that some may not see on first glance.

After watching the Steelers click on the offensive side of the ball, it should also be noted just how well quarterback Aaron Rodgers looked against the Browns, completing 21 of 30 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns, his best performance yet against one of the top defenses in the entire league. It was enough to earn him praise from Steelers insider Mark Kaboly when he shared his own thoughts on how well Rodgers has looked over the course of the season, especially in the past few weeks as he becomes more acclimated to the offense as a whole. And for as well as Rodgers has looked, especially in consecutive games, there's a seemingly underrated reason for why he's begun to look so poised. This reason is something Steelers Offensive Coordinator Arthur Smith recently addressed with the media.

Recently, Smith stepped up to the podium to address the progress of the Steelers' offense, and gave an encouraging update regarding how the offensive line has developed over the course of the season, culminating in their best showing yet against the Browns, and his comments provided a semblance of hope that the unit will continue to improve over the remainder of the season.

"The whole group, you know, it's just, you continue to build, and like I said, we've got a lot of young guys up there, with the exception of Isaac [Seumalo]," Smith said. "Those guys, the chemistry is important and the more reps they get together, and obviously the success that they have, helps in their development."

Considering the success the offensive line had against the Browns, Smith's comments should serve as a good sign for the future. Additionally, with the potential to gain more reps on the field, this offensive line is likely to become even better over time. Most Steelers fans should hopefully find this news encouraging, especially after how the offensive line kept Rodgers safe against the Browns, knowing well that the unit will have another challenge coming up on a short week against the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football.

Going into the season, most would not have expected the Steelers' offensive line to be a unit that turned out to be stronger than expected. However, with the recent showing against the Browns, the signs that the offensive line might be gaining cohesion is encouraging, and a breath of fresh air to fans of the Steelers.

Steelers' Offensive Line Continues To Develop After Strong Showing Against The Browns

Smith's remark about the offensive line is not only encouraging, it's also incredibly vital for the success of the offense as a whole going forward. The defenses the Steelers face throughout the season don't get any easier, especially considering the Steelers still have two games left to play against the Baltimore Ravens, among others, who possess incredibly stout defensive lines. The more chemistry the offensive line can build going forward, the better. This allows Rodgers to stay safe in the pocket, and will help open up lanes for running backs Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell to find holes that the offensive line opens up for them to potentially exploit for massive gains that could potentially change the flow of momentum in future games.

Building the confidence that the offensive line is starting to gain is going to be crucial going forward, and will hopefully provide a bright spot for the team in an area where not many expected there to be a bright spot going into the early weeks of the season.
