The Pittsburgh Steelers once again find themselves enthralled in a ton of wide receiver trade rumors. The NFL's trade deadline is approaching quickly as it lands on November 4th for the 2025 season, and the fan base is clamoring for the Steelers to add another weapon for quarterback Aaron Rodgers. DK Metcalf has been great ever since being acquired via trade during the 2025 offseason, but the Steelers could use some help at the position as the organization parted ways with George Pickens.

As the trade deadline approaches, Pittsburgh is going to be mentioned with potentially every disgruntled wide receiver around the league. The start of the 2025 season has positioned Pittsburgh to believe it can be a real contender in the AFC, so General Manager Omar Khan has to be looking for ways to upgrade the roster. There are some poor-performing teams in the NFL that could be looking to deal some of their good players, and this includes teams like the New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, and Miami Dolphins

Former NFL quarterback and current analyst Dan Orlovsky recently appeared on First Take where he shared who he believes should be Pittsburgh's targets.

"How all-in do you want to be?" Orlovsky asked. "The Steelers win tonight, this division is blouses. It's a wrap. If you're the Steelers and you win tonight, you have what I think would be a 3.5 game lead in the division. Do you make a call to the New York Jets and see if Garrett Wilson's available? Do you make a call to the Miami Dolphins and see if Jaylen Waddle is available? Do you call the Saints and see if Chris Olave is available? This team is different than I thought they were going to be."

Orlovsky admitted that he had lower expectations for the Steelers entering the 2025 season, but he now believes the organization needs to make a meaningful push towards winning the Super Bowl. This comes in the form of pursuing one of the disgruntled wide receivers across the landscape of the NFL. This could be Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, or Jaylen Waddle.

Both Olave and Waddle have been mentioned before when it comes to potential trade targets for the Steelers, but Wilson is a new name for the organization to consider. He is also a long shot to get a deal done for. The franchise in New York seems to love him, and he just inked a fresh extension during the 2025 offseason. However, things do not seem to be going well under his new Head Coach Aaron Glenn, and there have been plenty of instances of him getting into altercations with Glenn on the sideline.

Wilson and Rodgers could reunite in Pittsburgh, although that might not be a good thing. It is hard to determine whether the two ended on the right page, as before the Jets and Steelers played to open up the 2025 season, Wilson shed some light on their relationship by stating the two had not been in any sort of contact. That could be normal for two former teammates, or it could symbolize an underlying issue.

Steelers Landing Garrett Wilson Is An Absolute Long Shot

Khan would need to give up a ton of draft capital to land Wilson from New York while also absorbing a contract that runs through the 2030 season and carries a cap hit of over $23 million in 2027 and on.

The costly price to acquire Wilson and the lucrative contract make this trade a long shot, but a player like Olave is a more realistic addition for Pittsburgh. Olave needs an extension, which hurts his trade value. He also wouldn't be making as much as top receivers like Wilson due to his injury history, which might make Khan consider that deal a little more seriously.
