The Pittsburgh Steelers had a tough test on Sunday as the team with the best record in the AFC came into Acrisure Stadium. The Indianapolis Colts arrived in the Steel City looking to move to 8-1 on the year, but the Steelers were able to hand the Colts their second loss of the season. It was a big win for Pittsburgh, especially with the manner in which it happened. The defense had been getting torched over the last couple of weeks and that side of the ball showed some considerable improvements against an offense that is loaded with talent.

The Steelers defense forced six turnovers on the day, which is a major reason the franchise was able to secure the victory. The offense did its job, but fans would have liked to see the group put up more points with how often the defense was getting them the ball back.
The best way to take advantage of turnovers is by scoring touchdowns after the fact, and Pittsburgh didn't do a good enough job of that on Sunday. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers spoke about that during his postgame press conference.
"Well, we started off pretty slow." Rodgers said. "It was pretty ugly on offense for a decent part of the day. Had a lot of chances, but our defense played incredible. Especially after getting blasted for the last week, really proud of them. Thought the energy was great."
Pittsburgh's defense was a big reason the Steelers were able to win this game, especially with how slow the offense started. Rodgers did not sound happy with his side of the ball, as he thought the group looked ugly for most of the day. The group was able to put enough points on the board to win the game, but there should have been a lot more production from the offense based on how often the defense was able to get them the football back.

Pittsburgh's offense in 2025 has been the best offense for the Steelers in quite some time. The team has a good way to run the football, while Rodgers is still great at reading a defense and getting the ball out fast.
Players are continuing to develop and the chemistry is growing, but there are still times where it feels like Pittsburgh can't do anything to move the ball. That was the case on the first possession of the game where the Steelers went three and out, which is just a horrific way to start a game, especially after winning the toss and deciding to receive.
Hopefully Pittsburgh can find a way to avoid the offensive dry spells that have plagued the unit in 2025. As long as the defense continues to play the way that it did on Sunday, the Steelers should be able to compete in any game. The offense just has to put points on the board, which is something the group has gotten better at as the year has gone on.

Steelers Need More From The Offense Moving Foward
In the win over the Colts on Sunday Pittsburgh only recorded 225 total yards, which is not typically going to be enough to win any game in the NFL. That is where the six turnovers came into play, and that is not something that can be banked on week in and week out. The offense needs to be better at moving the ball and finding the end zone, and that is going to be crucial as the Steelers continue to work through this tough part of their schedule.
It has been an up and down year for Pittsburgh, but if the team can get some more offensive production while playing complimentary football the team could be dangerous in the AFC.
