Steelers Fans Receive Big Update On Aaron Rodgers Hours After His Injury

The Pittsburgh Steelers got a great win on Sunday as the team was able to take down the Cincinnati Bengals in order to get back in the win column. It was a much needed win as it was an important game within the division, and the win will allow Pittsburgh to continue to be in the lead in the AFC North. The franchise still has just a one game lead over the Baltimore Ravens, and that lead is going to be difficult to hang onto as Pittsburgh suffered some injuries against Cincinnati. One of the more concerning ones was to quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Steelers' Aaron Rodgers warms up before playing the Cincinnati Bengals on the road during the 2025 season.

Rodgers went into the locker room at halftime and the four-time league MVP never came back out. He injured his non-throwing wrist near the end of the first half, and the initial fear is that the quarterback has a slight break in that left wrist. He is going to undergo further testing on Monday to figure out the severity of the injury, but the quarterback was apparently pushing to come back into the game on Sunday and the team would not let him.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport spoke about the injury on Monday during an appearance on Good Morning Football.

"Aaron Rodgers is going to have tests this morning just to determine how long he is going to miss, if he is going to miss any time," Rapoport said. "Aaron Rodgers does have a tiny fracture in his left wrist, that is what the x-ray at the stadium revealed. The reason he is going to have more tests after a player landed on his wrist is, it is my understanding, Aaron Rodgers has told people close to him that he will be back very soon."

A bone break does not sound good, especially not for a 41-year old quarterback. Rodgers seems to be determined to play through this injury if the team will allow him, which is what the additional testing is going to be for. It needs to be seen if the injury can be worsened by playing, or if the bone break could put any other bones or ligaments in jeopardy.

Mason Rudolph filled in nicely for Rodgers during the second half of Pittsburgh's win over the Bengals. The offense scored on both possessions that were led by Rudolph, and the backup quarterback proved he was more than capable to run the offense. This was against the worst defense in the league, but the performance probably gave Rudolph a bit of confidence moving forward. However, he might not get the chance to start a game as Rodgers is determined to play through his injury.

"He has told more people close to him that he does not want to miss a game," Rapoport said. "He is pushing to play in this game. I know it seems crazy because he broke a bone in his wrist, but it is a left wrist. If he is able to grip, if he is able to receive the ball on the snap, it is actually possible that Rodgers could play this weekend. Had someone tell me that he was essentially 50-50 to play this week."

Pittsburgh takes on the Chicago Bears on Sunday, and every game at this stage of the season feels like a must-win. Chicago does not have a great defense, so Pittsburgh's offense needs to be on point in order to get the win. Rudolph could be the better option, but Rodgers is going to try to get the team to allow him to play.

Steelers' Aaron Rodgers Has Been Ambitious With Injuries Before

When Rodgers tore his Achilles back at the start of the 2023 season, he immediately made headlines by stating he would attempt to come back that season if his team was in the playoff hunt. A recovery like that has never been heard of when it comes to that severe of an injury, but Rodgers believed he could do it. This wrist injury is nowhere near as serious, but it is another example of Rodgers not wanting to miss games.

Rodgers also has a long history with Chicago, which could play into it.
