The Pittsburgh Steelers currently have a slight predicament at the quarterback position entering a Week 12 battle with the Chicago Bears. Aaron Rodgers is nursing a broken left wrist, but appears as if he could be able to play against his former NFC North foe. Mason Rudolph will be trusted to fill in if need be; however, the future Hall of Fame quarterback might have different plans. Rodgers has dominated the Bears for the majority of his career, and has a unique rivalry with the fan base. It will be interesting to see if the medical personnel in the Steel City gives him the go-ahead for the contest.

According to Sports Reference, Rodgers has an all-time record of 24-5 versus the Bears in the regular season, and 1-0 in the playoffs. That includes almost decades of heartbreaking finishes for fans in Chicago. There was legitimately a time when the signal-caller was clearly caught saying during a celebration that he owns the franchise in the Windy City.

Rodgers spoke to the media on Wednesday as he prepares to try and suit up for the non-conference matchup. He had a little message to get across to the city of Chicago when asked about what the upcoming game means to him, but this time, as a member of the Steelers.

"There's incentive for every opponent, but I have enjoyed many [of] Sunday and Monday and, maybe Thursdays, in that city," Rodgers said. "Great sports town, phenomenal sports fans, and a great place to play."

The quarterback continued to speak about Pittsburgh's trip to play the Bears, and he mentioned that he does not want to be a villain in Week 12. After all, he no longer plays for the Green Bay Packers.

"I'd rather not be. I mean, I'm not in Green Bay anymore," Rodgers stated. "I feel like we can let bygones be by bygones, maybe. I can I guess."

Rodgers went through a detailed history of the Bears' and Packers' long-standing rivalry, and then he asked the loyal fans in the Windy City to maybe leave it all in this past come Sunday.

"I hope those fans can put [my success] behind them. I'm sure they can't," Rodgers joked. "I don't expect them to, but I really enjoy the city."

It is very possible that Rudolph ends up starting for the Steelers against Chicago, but there is no doubt that the regular starter in Rodgers will be doing everything in his power to get on the field.

Chicago is sitting at 7-3 while Pittsburgh will enter the matchup with a record of 6-4. Back in Rodgers' Packers days, the Bears were often much worse than Green Bay. It will be a different story in 2025, as Head Coach Ben Johnson has the team in the NFC playoff conversion. If Rodgers were able to play and perform out of his mind once again versus the Bears, it would just be accepted at that point that he completely owns the franchise, regardless of who he is playing for.

Steelers Can't Afford To Go To Chicago And Lose

While Pittsburgh does not travel to the state of Illinois often, the franchise has not won in Chicago since 1995. Something is going to have to give on Sunday afternoon. If Rodgers is healthy enough to play, either his dominance of the Bears will be put aside, or he will have it continue. On the other end of things, it's also possible that the Steelers' streak of losing in Chicago marches on. One thing is for sure, and that is the fact that Rodgers playing would make the contest all the more interesting.
