Steelers May Have Major Advantage After Big Lamar Jackson News Ahead Of Week 14 Clash In Baltimore

The Pittsburgh Steelers are taking part in a very pivotal game against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. The Week 14 clash should carry a lot of weight in deciding who will come out on top of the AFC North for the 2025 season. The division is very likely to only have one playoff berth coming from the division winner, with all three of the Wild Card spots in the AFC set to go elsewhere. Both Pittsburgh and Baltimore currently have records of 6-6, with the Ravens sitting in first place as they have the tie-breaker over the Steelers. That could all change on Sunday with a Pittsburgh win on the road.

The Ravens have been trending upwards while the Steelers have struggled as the team is 2-5 in its last seven games, so it is fair to assume that Baltimore has the upper hand going into this matchup. However, that can change quickly. Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson has been dealing with some nagging injuries throughout the 2025 season, and the two-time NFL MVP's status is up in the air for the matchup against Pittsburgh as he was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday. He also did not practice on Thursday due to an ankle injury.

Jackson missing practice has been a common theme over the last several weeks, but he has still played in games. This case is a little bit different. Usually players who are limited participants either stay at that injury designation, or get upgraded as the week moves along. In this case, Jackson was downgraded on Thursday, which makes it reasonable to think he could miss the game on Sunday.

If Jackson cannot go on Sunday, Tyler Huntley would likely get the start at quarterback for Baltimore. Huntley has bounced around a bit over the last couple of seasons, but the quarterback is known for his time serving as the backup for the Ravens. From 2020 through 2023, he was with Baltimore, and he returned in 2025 after some short stints elsewhere. He has filled in well for Jackson over the years, even being named a Pro Bowler in 2022.

Huntley has a record of 4-6 while starting games for the Ravens. Jackson missing the game would benefit Pittsburgh, but by no means does it make the game easy to win for the Steelers. Pittsburgh will still have to play well against a rising Baltimore defense, while the defense for the Steelers will need to slow down Derrick Henry on the ground.

Steelers' Defense Has Faced Tyler Huntley Before

Huntley has started four games against the Steelers throughout his career with Baltimore. In those games, the quarterback has thrown for a combined 505 yards to go with two touchdowns and three interceptions. He is 1-3 against Pittsburgh, with his one win coming in 2022 in a game where Kenny Pickett exited early for the Steelers and Mitch Trubisky took his place. Huntley can manage the Ravens' offense and make some plays, but he is nowhere near the player that Jackson is.

Jackson's status for the game on Sunday is still up in the air, and fans should get some more clarity on the situation on both Friday and Saturday. It is hard to imagine he would miss such an important game when it comes to his team's playoff chances, but the team could opt to save him for the rest of the season. The game Sunday does not determine the winner of the division, as the two teams will clash once more in 2025.
