The Pittsburgh Steelers have a ton of contract questions to consider during the 2026 offseason. Plenty of players that were drafted by the organization in 2023 are now eligible for extensions, and plenty of the players that fit that criteria are worthy of a good amount of money. So is kicker Chris Boswell, who was due an extension with a sizable raise, and that is exactly what the kicker has gotten.

It has been well-documented that Boswell is one of the best kickers in the entire NFL, and now he is going to be paid like it. He was only signed through the 2026 season on a four-year, $20 million deal, but on Monday, it was reported that the kicker and the Steelers have agreed to terms on a new extension.

The kicker is now going to be with the Steelers through the 2030 season, which is great news for both sides. Boswell has played a major role in so many wins for the franchise over the years, and he certainly deserves to be tied as the league's highest-paid kicker.

This new extension now makes Boswell the league's a highest-paid kicker, a label he will share with Brandon Aubrey of the Dallas Cowboys. Each kicker has now signed a four-year deal worth $28 million during the 2026 offseason.

Boswell wanted a new contract during the 2025 offseason, and that was a pretty big storyline around the time that training camp began. Both he and Cam Heyward wanted new deals, but Boswell eventually gave up and decided to wait until the 2026 offseason. This payday was a long time coming for Boswell as he has single-handedly scored all the points in several victories for Pittsburgh over the years. That includes a playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs where the Steelers won off of six field goals.

The kicker is known for being one of the most accurate in the league, and he has not shown any signs of slowing down. As long as he gets proper blocking up front, he is near automatic. There is no question that he is deserving of this new deal, and it will keep him in Pittsburgh through his age-40 season. For any other player that is Boswell's age, this contract might seem like a risk, but kickers can consistently play well into their 40s.

Steelers' Chris Boswell Is Finally Getting What He Deserves

Boswell has always been a fan favorite in Pittsburgh, but it seems like he is finally getting the proper national recognition. He has only been a Pro Bowler twice, and he was First-Team All-Pro in 2024. He should have way more of these accolades, but for years, it was Justin Tucker getting all of the love when it came to kickers in the NFL. He is now out of the league, and Boswell and Aubrey have been two of the most talked about players on special teams across the league.

Believe it or not, 2025 was actually kind of a down year for Boswell. He missed five field goals, although two of those misses were from over 60 yards. He also had a critical extra point against the Baltimore Ravens in the regular season finale blocked that could have cost the Steelers an appearance in the playoffs. Baltimore's kicker however, missed a field goal as time expired. The Steelers then became AFC North champs.

What do you think of this new deal for Boswell? Let me know on X, @brogannoey!
