The Pittsburgh Steelers' offensive line has been much improved ever since the team took a gamble by thrusting offensive guard Brock Hoffman and rookie tackle Max Iheanachor into the starting lineup. Iheanachor has received most of the credit, as he was Pittsburgh's 2026 first-round draft selection and was not expected to play this well this early in his career. Hoffman has flown under the radar, quietly performing as one of the team's best offensive linemen. His play and veteran leadership have been key to the offensive line's success thus far.

Steelers offensive lineman Brock Hoffman watches on from the sidelines during a preseason game in August of 2026.
After being signed as an undrafted free agent by the Cleveland Browns following the 2022 NFL Draft, Hoffman eventually made his way to the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad before being elevated to make his NFL debut in Week 15 of the 2022 season. Following his rookie season, he made his first start in Week 3 of the 2023 season and appeared in 17 total games. In his third NFL season, he again appeared in 17 games and was a key interior swingman, providing solid depth for the Cowboys. During the 2025 season, he yet again appeared in 17 games, starting in seven of them. He helped anchor the offensive line for one of the NFL's top-ranked offenses.
Following his tenure in Dallas, he signed a one-year contract in March 2026 with Pittsburgh, reuniting with his former head coach Mike McCarthy. During the first two weeks of the 2026 season, he contributed as a rotational interior lineman. He, alongside Iheanachor, earned his first start in Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Since then, he has seized the starting role, helping anchor a highly effective run-blocking unit. The Steelers' offensive line has seemed to find its footing ever since Hoffman entered the starting lineup.
While other players on the offensive line have received plenty of praise for their play, Hoffman has quietly served as the glue holding the unit together. During a recent episode of Kaboly + Mack Live, Steelers insider Mark Kaboly discussed Hoffman's role with Pittsburgh and what he brings to the team.
"I was shocked the team didn't give Hoffman an opportunity to begin with," Kaboly said. "He just gets under people's skin. Apparently, he is a bigger trash-talker than Mason McCormick, which is hard to believe. He definitely gets after it. Hoffman has just made this offensive line go. He is the true veteran of this group, and it just seems like he holds it all together."
It seems like Pittsburgh's offensive line has been underrated by the rest of the league in 2026, which could bode well for the unit's image. This unit plays a physical, smash-mouth style of football. If opponents overlook this unit, they could quickly pay the price. It is extremely refreshing to see the big guys up front finally find their footing. Steelers fans could be watching the foundation of the team's future offensive line take shape, especially with the majority of the starting unit being relatively young.

If the unit can continue to perform at this level while each player develops alongside his teammates, the offensive line could finally become one of Pittsburgh's strengths rather than a weakness, which it has been for multiple seasons.
Steelers' Offensive Line Has No Weak Link
For quite some time, the Steelers' offensive line has appeared to be one or two pieces away from becoming a solid unit. Whether it was a struggling offensive tackle or an offensive guard that has not fit into the lineup, there has always been a position that has felt like a weak link for the unit. Since the lineup changes in Week 3, this offensive line has truly performed as one, with each player stepping up to the challenge. It has been difficult to identify an offensive lineman who has underperformed relative to his teammates. This is an encouraging sign, as the unit could finally be developing into an offensive line capable of protecting its quarterback and dominating in the run game for years to come.
