The Pittsburgh Steelers are currently in Paris, France, preparing for the team's clash with the New Orleans Saints in Week 7. This is a big game for the Steelers as the team looks for its third win in a row, which would be huge to keep pace in the AFC North which is turning into the most competitive division in the NFL. A lot has been said about the fact that the Steelers waited to travel to Paris until Thursday evening, while the Saints have been in the city since Monday. That could give an advantage to New Orleans, and quarterback Aaron Rodgers wanted to be in the city already.

The NFL has had a serious effort to expand its reach internationally, which has led to a lot more international games. There is basically one every week now, and some pundits have hypothesized that the league could end up playing the Super Bowl overseas one day. A large portion of the fan base couldn't care less about international games, while there are some fans that absolutely hate it. The timing is off for the broadcast, and the teams have to go through a lot just to play a football game. The NFL has even had multiple in-division international games in 2026, which should not be allowed as home field advantage can be such a factor in those contests.

Rodgers spoke to the media in Paris on Friday, and he was asked about the league's uptick in scheduling international games recently. He spoke about the reach of the NFL, while also noting that the league is going to chase more money whenever it can.

"I think there could be 16 sites around the world at some point," Rodgers said. "Canada, Mexico, probably another South American country, multiple European countries. There was a game in Australia this year. The league has a pretty far reach and there's more coin to be made, they're going to look into it."

Rodgers noted that the league is clearly trying to establish more sites around the world for games to be held. London is one of the ones that the league has been going to for a while now, while games have been played in new countries recently as well as the Steelers played in Ireland in 2025, there was a game in Australia back in Week 1, and now Pittsburgh is playing in France.

Rodgers has not been shy about calling the NFL out for just chasing money. He did it during the 2025 season when he spoke about Thursday Night Football and the fact that it is not going away anytime soon due to the money that gets injected into the league from Amazon. The NFL is always going to chase more money, and building a larger international audience is a great way to do that.

Steelers' Aaron Rodgers Believes More Changes Will Be Coming With International Games

While speaking to the media, Rodgers spoke about the most recent Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiations. This is when topics like player safety, practice times, and things that affect players get discussed and negotiated between the league and the NFLPA. He noted that the topic of an "International Week" was discussed, which would involve all 32 teams playing internationally.

This is something to look out for when the next CBA comes around, because the league has definitely taken more steps toward accomplishing something like this.
