ESPN: Steelers' Aaron Rodgers Gets Completely Exposed For "Utter Nonsense" Amid International Controversy

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been known in years past to bring in whatever talent they could find, regardless of the drama they might bring. The Killer Bs era was the epitome of this thinking, as they had one of the most talented offenses of all time, but also arguably the most volatile locker room ever. The more time they spent together, the more tension and off-field issues they created until everyone was let go in free agency or traded away. There was so much potential there that arguably never truly materialized.

Even with that era being long over, the Steelers made a very controversial decision in 2025 when they signed Aaron Rodgers to be their starting quarterback. He was a part of all kinds of drama with the New York Jets that eventually led to him getting cut after two years there, with only one healthy season. He wasn't as bad with his questionable comments as he was in New York, but there have been a few moments with him.

Recently, he got called out for what is being accused to be an outright lie. NFL insider Dan Graziano addressed some comments that Rodgers made during Pittsburgh's trip to Paris, France, and he explained how they were false.

"Aaron Rodgers' odd claim that the idea of an 'international week' of games was discussed during the 2019-20 CBA discussions created a lot of confusion around the league Monday, in particular among people who were there and remember nothing of the sort ever coming up..." Graziano said. "So if you're wondering whether this 'international week' was ever treated as a viable idea, you can move on to other things in your life and remember that a large portion of what Aaron Rodgers has said publicly over the past six or seven years is utter nonsense."

Graziano also mentioned that the only person who ever vaguely recalls anything like this international week idea was when Rodgers apparently talked about it in a player-only meeting, with the report being that everyone else in that room just ignored it. If this report is true, the quarterback is just trying to promote his own agenda with the international games, despite the fact that an "international week" is completely unreasonable.

It's true that the NFL eventually wants to have 16 international contests in a season, but they're working up to that mark slowly. On top of that, those matches would be spread out through the entire season, as opposed to everyone flying to a different country for one week. With how the league is taking this matter 1-2 games at a time, it would likely take decades before this idea could be seriously considered.

For a long time now, teams and players have pushed back on the NFL's international plans, including an eventual division of teams from different countries across the pond. There are concerns of a logistical nightmare with a situation like that, and Rodgers' proposal would be something that gets fought against in negotiations. If the NFL isn't even interested in that yet, as Graziano said, then this is a total non-issue that the 42-year-old is trying to force.

Steelers Have Seen First-Hand How International Issues Can Affect Games

In Week 4, the Indianapolis Colts traveled to London for a game and then had to fly to Pittsburgh to face the Steelers the very next week. The Colts' defense was clearly worn out, as they had no answers for running back Jaylen Warren. He racked up a career-high 188 yards, while Rodgers threw for three touchdowns. There has not been a single player to wreck a game against the Colts in 2026 like Warren did back in Week 5.

Some may say it's correlation, not causation, but one has to wonder how much better the Colts could have played if they had more rest time after their London trip.
