No rest for the weary with a Thursday game approaching, so I didn’t expect much to change on the injury status this week. James Conner was a pleasant surprise, since he practiced all week and is not given an injury designation. Same with Ramon Foster who cleared concussion protocol and should be active.
Benny Snell Jr. and Roosevelt Nix were joined by Ryan Switzer this week as practice non-participants, and were all listed as officially OUT for Thursday’s game.
Anthony Chickillo was limited in practice all week and is listed as QUESTIONABLE. Joe Haden was a surprise addition to the injury list this week, since he sat out practice with an illness on Wednesday. Though he is listed as questionable, I don’t think anything would stop Haden from suiting up against his former team.
Ola Adeniyi was limited on Tuesday, but practiced fully on Wednesday and was not given an injury designation, so expect him to be the swing OLB against the Cleveland Browns.
Updated Edit: Roosevelt Nix and Ryan Switzer have been placed on IR and won't be inactive because they are no longer rostered. Jayrone Elliott and Tevin Jones have been activated and both should play.
I track and try to predict timelines for Steeler players returning to the field. This is a link to our current spreadsheet. It will update on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday after the practice reports are issued, as well as Post-Game and Tuesday after Coach Tomlin's press conferences. I believe the inactive players will be:
- Paxton Lynch: 3rd QB Inactive
- Benny Snell Jr: Listed as OUT and won’t play
- LT Walton: Has not been active yet, and shouldn’t be again this week
- Zach Gentry: Being "redshirted". He shouldn’t be active.
- Anthony Chickillo: Limited every practice on a short week with a rib injury is a bad sign for Chickillo playing Thursday night.
- Justin Layne: Will probably sit with the roster changes.
- Chukwuma Okorafor: With a healthy roster, one of the linemen should sit. Since the tackles and Foster are healthy, Chukes should be sitting this week.
Do you think someone else will sit instead? Comment below and let us know your selections.
