Actively Predicting the Inactive List: Week 4

By G.Stryker:

Vince Williams (hamstring) Anthony Chickillo, (foot) and Roosevelt Nix (knee) all missed the game last week, and did not practice this week.  They have all been ruled out for this week’s game.

Vance McDonald had a back injury last week, but still played against the 49ers, though he ended up injuring his shoulder in that game.  He did not practice at all this week and is listed as doubtful.

Jayrone Elliot (hamstring) was a new addition to the injury list this week.  He was limited on Thursday and Friday, though practiced fully on Saturday.  He is listed as questionable, but is trending toward being able to play Monday night.

Joe Haden has experienced his 2nd straight week of not practicing the first day, but practicing fully the next 2 days.  He is not listed on the injury report and will play again this week. As a 10 year vet, he will get time off to help him recover.

I track and try to predict timelines for Steeler players returning to the field. This is a link to our current spreadsheet. It will update on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday after the practice reports are issued, as well as Post-Game and Tuesday after Coach Tomlin’s press conferences. Bookmark it to see how the health of the Steelers are shaping up each week.

This week I believe the inactive players will be:

  1. Vince Williams: Listed as out, so will not play
  2. Roosevelt Nix: Listed as out, so will not play
  3. Anthony Chickillo: Listed as out, so will not play
  4. Vance McDonald: Listed as doubtful, so he shouldn’t be playing
  5. Fred Johnson: Steelers like to dress 7 linemen when the team is healthy
  6. Chukwuma Okorafor: Has sat the past 2 weeks and I predict he will again this week
  7. Isiah Buggs: Donte Moncrief was a surprise inactive last week.  Still a chance he should sit, but with only 2 other defensive players listed, the Steelers will most likely sit one more defenseman.  The other option may be Artie Burns or Justin Layne.

Do you think someone else will sit instead?  Comment below and let us know your selections.
