Steelers HC Mike Tomlin Addresses Media Following Bengals Loss; What to Expect Moving Forward

Welcome back to “Tomlin Tuesday” where Pittsburgh Steelers head coach, Mike Tomlin takes to the podium for his weekly press conference to address the latest game, the current injury situation, and what’s to come ahead each and every week.

Tomlin started off this afternoon by readdressing the poor play from last Sunday, and how the team is open to schematic and personnel changes to see improvement. Something of note, the team signed DT Montravius Adams this week. Adams, 26, was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers.

On the injury front, Tomlin mentioned that inside linebacker Robert Spillane, tight end Pat Freiermuth (concussion protocol), cornerback Joe Haden, star edge rusher TJ Watt (COVID protocol), and long snapper Christian Kuntz will all be further evaluated throughout practice this week.

As for the upcoming divisional matchup game this Sunday at Heinz Field against the Baltimore Ravens, Tomlin highlighted the history of this specific rivalry and how special quarterback Lamar Jackson is, along with his relationship with wide receiver, Marquise “Hollywood” Brown and tight end, Mark Andrews. When it comes to “stopping” Jackson, Steeler Nation has been consistently curious as to the whereabouts of defensive lineman, Stephon Tuitt who can be a much needed valuable asset to this team — especially during this current losing streak.

“We’ll continue to monitor his progress, and when he gets close, I’ll have an update for you guys.”

ESPN‘s Brooke Pryor also mentioned inside linebacker Devin Bush and things he may or may not need to improve on to help this team. Tomlin expressed that both “physically” and “mentally” are areas Bush will need to continue to get better at. He’s still a “young guy” Tomlin mentioned.

With just six games left in the regular season, Tomlin explained how he’s just going to take it one game at a time. Still a lot of football left and anything can happen.
