Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown was supposedly an owner of the Albany Empire just a few months ago. Brown had a few different incidents with the Empire, who are in the National Arena Football League. Recently, the former 12-year wideout "promised" that he would even appear on the field for the Empire. Well, as predicted, that didn't end up happening.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers wideout Antonio Brown spent some time as a part-owner of the Albany Empire of the AFL.
From there, whether true or not, there were rumors about NFL teams being interested in him. Brown even tweeted out a picture of him in a Baltimore Ravens uniform, which would really strike a chord with black and gold fans. Still, no one seemed to believe that connection coming to fruition, even if he has a close relationship with Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Now, in another change of events, former offensive lineman Maurkice Pouncey is being connected to Brown, his former teammate. Pouncey spent 11 seasons in Pittsburgh, becoming one of the best centers of all time. He spent nine of those seasons as a teammate of Brown's, and the two always appeared to have a close relationship. On Friday, Pouncey responded to Brown's request for the two to reunite in the AFL for the Empire.
"Mike [Pouncey] and I will play for free! You are FAMILY!! I know a recent ex-Gator that's a Pouncey as well. Waiting on that call. Call God. Boomin!"

Former Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey became one of the best players in team history.
If you noticed, Maurkice tells Brown that Mike would join them with the Empire. While the Pouncey brothers were never able to play in the NFL together, they obviously grew up and play high school ball together. Beyond that, they were both able to go to the University of Florida. Each of them were high draft picks and became successful linemen in the NFL.
Maurkice also included Jordan Pouncey in the tweet, hinting that he could join them with the Empire. Jordan just concluded his career with Florida, where he played wide receiver for a few seasons. Jordan appeared in 28 career games for the Gators, making three catches for 31 yards and a touchdown. He is cousins with Maurkice and Mike, hence the connection and his involvement in the tweet.
Maurkice retired after the 2020 campaign, and the team has missed his presence ever since. An obvious candidate to become a Hall of Famer someday, Pouncey was a nine-time Pro Bowler. He was selected to the All-Pro First Team twice while making the All-Pro Second Team another three times. If he and Brown were indeed to reunite on the field, it would certainly bring some ratings to the AFL.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown continues to hurt his post-NFL image.
Obviously, Brown continues his up-and-down post-NFL career. He's gotten into a slew of trouble, appearing in the media quite often. The relationship between him and the Steelers doesn't appear to have gotten any better, either. Quarterback Mason Rudolph did recently applaud Brown for his work ethic when the two were teammates just a few years ago.
What are your thoughts on this tweet about Pouncey and Brown possibly teaming up? Do you think this is all a social media smokescreen?
