The Pittsburgh Steelers had an extremely aggressive free agency in the final year of General Manager Kevin Colbert's tenure in 2022. That ended up rolling over to the first offseason that Omar Khan was in charge of the front office. The 2023 break in meaningful football games has led to the organization adding big names such as Patrick Peterson, Isaac Seumalo and Allen Robinson, among others. The franchise seems to be in a better place talent wise, but will have a stacked AFC North and conference as a whole to go up against.

The goal in Pittsburgh each season is always to bring home a Lombardi Trophy. The franchise has won a league-record six Super Bowl Titles and is only tied with the New England Patriots for the most of all-time. Despite not appearing in the big game since the 2010 season, fans are still hopeful and looking forward to an unexpected season that sees the team as a sleeper in 2023.

The Steelers aren't being highly respected when it comes to Vegas odds and the possibility of a record-setting seventh Super Bowl. They currently land in the bottom half of the league as far as odds go for Mike Tomlin and his squad to be recognized as the best team in the world come February of 2024. That doesn't mean that former Pittsburgh players don't have a better shot.

There are several former Steelers who played for the team in 2022, but moved on in 2023 free agency. Devin Bush, Robert Spillane and Malik Reed are all on teams that currently have much better odds to celebrate a Super Bowl victory following the 2023 season. There is one former 2018 first-round pick of Pittsburgh, however, that could enjoy the honor almost immediately after not experiencing a single playoff win since being selected 28th overall.

Terrell Edmunds signed a one-year, $2 million contract with the reigning NFC Champion, Philadelphia Eagles back in March. The organization needed help in the back of their secondary which led to the front office going after Edmunds. Given the Steelers current cap situation, the opportunity to re-sign Edmunds at such an inexpensive price was absolutely in the cards. It has appeared that the safety had some other plans.

The safety had a solid five seasons in Pittsburgh. He was never a Pro Bowl-caliber player, but provided a legitimate amount of consistency at the safety position. He started 75 games since 2018 and was able to haul in five interceptions. He was the perfect compliment to Minkah Fitzpatrick since the Steelers traded for the three-time All-Pro safety in the beginning of the 2019 campaign.

Edmunds now lands in Philadelphia and on a team with the second-best odds to win the Super Bowl. Regardless of what the Steelers offered him, it's clear that he wanted to join an organization that was without-a-doubt ready to compete for a championship. He is at the top of the Eagles' depth chart and, barring any injuries, should play alongside Reed Blankenship in 2023.

Steelers Will Miss Edmunds In 2023

Edmunds was never going to completely break a game open for the Steelers. He did, however, provide a consistent and very important piece to the defense. He wasn't always completely respected among the fan base, but has a much better chance to hoist a Lombardi Trophy as the Eagles are +700 ($100 to win $700) to bring home a championship in the 2023-2024 season and are only behind the Kansas City Chiefs. That had to be a main contributing factor for him when he decided to head to Philadelphia.

Will you be jealous or happy for Edmunds if he wins a Super Bowl in his first year not in the black and gold? Let us know in the comments below!
