The Pittsburgh Steelers showcased an explosive offensive performance for the second week in a row, securing a crucial 30-23 victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 17. Mason Rudolph led the charge with 274 passing yards, but it was the Steelers' dominance in the running game that left a lasting impression.

Heading into the game, former Steelers 2019 first-round draft pick Devin Bush spoke confidently about being able to stop the Steelers run game. Najee Harris spearheaded the ground attack, accumulating 27 carries, 122 rushing yards, and two touchdowns. Jaylen Warren also made a significant contribution with 13 rushes for 75 yards and one touchdown.

Amidst this offensive outburst, one particular play stood out and captured the attention of not just Steeler Nation, but also football enthusiasts worldwide. In the third quarter, with seven minutes left and the Steelers facing first and goal, it initially appeared that Harris would be tackled easily by the Seahawks' defense.

However, Harris exhibited his exceptional strength and determination, refusing to go down. What made this play even more remarkable was the assistance provided by not one, but all three of the Steelers' tight ends: Connor Heyward, Darnell Washington and Pat Freiermuth.

During the postgame press conference on Sunday, Harris was asked about this pivotal play, and he couldn't help but add a touch of humor to his response. Harris revealed that Freiermuth, in particular, enjoys taking credit for helping him on plays like this one, often boasting about his contributions.

Harris jokingly talked about Freiermuth taking credit for getting him into the end zone. This was a comment that speaks to the relationship that the two have with one another,

"Pat likes bragging about what he did, especially after every play. Even if it's not him making a play, he just said, 'Did you see me push you Naj?' He does stuff like that."

Harris was all smiles as he acknowledged Freiermuth's enthusiasm. However, the reporter gently corrected Harris, reminding him that it wasn't solely Freiermuth who assisted but also Heyward and Washington. Harris's response was priceless, reflecting his initial confusion regarding why the tight ends felt deserving of the game ball.

"Oh, was it somebody else? It was Darnell and Connor too? Oh man, that's why they were saying give us the game ball. Ok ok, I get it then. I was trying to understand why; ok, that's what's up."

Harris was able to finally grasp the collective effort that powered him into the end zone and was appreciative of them while providing Steelers fans with a funny post game interview. Games such as the recent offensive masterclasses against the Cincinnati Bengals and the Seahawks serve as a refreshing palate cleanser for Steelers fans, swiftly erasing the bitter taste of the three nightmarish games that preceded them.

Steelers Offensive Game Ball Should Go To The Tight Ends

While Steeler Nation and football fans marveled at Harris's determination to score, many recognized the crucial role played by the tight ends in this remarkable play. Without their assistance, Harris's path to the end zone would have not been possible. The tight ends' collective effort to push and drive back the Seahawks' defenders, including the star linebacker Bobby Wagner, made all the difference. This touchdown for the Steelers really helped them gain control on the game and was a pivotal reason for the Steelers victory.

As the Steelers maintain slim postseason hopes, the fan base remains grateful for the resurgence of the offense, particularly in terms of touchdown-scoring prowess. Over the course of the past two weeks, Steelers fans have relished the sheer delight of witnessing their team rack up points on the scoreboard. It serves as a refreshing reminder of just how invigorating the act of scoring touchdowns can be.

Prior to this recent resurgence, the Steelers' offensive struggles were apparent, with Mitch Trubisky at the helm – although it's fair to share the blame with offensive coordinator Matt Canada and, to some extent, Kenny Pickett. The root of the offensive issues appeared to stem more from the offensive scheme rather than solely Pickett's performance. Nevertheless, regardless of the specifics, Steelers fans are simply grateful to embark on drives with the renewed belief that finding the end zone is a tangible possibility once again.

Following their victory on Sunday, Mike Tomlin has solidified his streak of 17 consecutive seasons with a winning record. Throughout his tenure as the Steelers' head coach, Tomlin has never experienced a losing season. While the playoff journey may be an uphill battle, the Steelers and their fans savor the renewed offensive spark that has reignited hope in the final stretch of the season.
