However, on Tuesday morning, it was revealed that Pittsburgh would be adding two new players to their roster to replace the released pair. According to Mike DeFabo (via the team's official website), the Steelers are signing tight end Matt Sokol and defensive back Kyler McMichael.

Sokol went undrafted in 2019 and has been part of several teams since then, often moving between practice squads and being released. He's made seven stops in his career so far, a journey marked by perseverance. Sokol has had just one NFL start, which came in 2023 with the New England Patriots.

Sokol played his college football at Michigan State, where he recorded 31 receptions for 348 receiving yards and two touchdowns over four years. He appeared in 52 games for the Spartans. While his receiving stats weren't particularly impressive, Sokol earned a spot in the NFL due to his blocking abilities.

Making the Steelers' 53-man roster will be a challenge for Sokol, but he's in training camp and determined to prove to the coaches that he deserves a place on the active roster.

Steelers' Kyler McMichael Hasn't Played In A NFL Game

McMichael also went undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft, and has yet to make an impact in an NFL game. He was last with the Arizona Cardinals, but his potential remains uncertain as fans haven't had the chance to see him in action. Both players will be eager to make an impression during training camp.

McMichael began his college career with the Clemson Tigers before transferring to the North Carolina Tar Heels after one season. Over three seasons in college, he accumulated 35 tackles, one interception, and seven passes defensed. Like Sokol, McMichael wasn't particularly productive in college, but the Steelers saw potential in him that warranted a signing.

Making the Steelers' 53-man roster will be a tough challenge for McMichael, but he’s ready to compete for a spot. Steelers fans will be watching both new players closely to see what they can bring to the team. Although McMichael was with the Cardinals in 2023, he did not appear in any games. Both McMichael and Sokol hope to build momentum in their NFL careers with the Steelers and make a strong impression during training camp.
