Pittsburgh Steelers star edge rusher, TJ Watt heard some crazy words leading up to his Week 8 matchup against the New York Giants. Giants offensive tackle Jermaine Eluemunor was confident about facing Watt, boldly stating that he wanted to see the star pass rusher on an island all game long. This bravado set the stage for a thrilling showdown, with Watt expected to be extra motivated by the confidence of Eluemunor.

That's exactly what Eluemunor got, and Watt delivered when it mattered most, securing a critical strip sack that ultimately helped clinch the victory for the Steelers. Despite the outcome, Eluemunor went on a podcast to defend his pregame comments, insisting that Watt didn't pose a significant threat against him during the game.

In the aftermath, TJ's brother JJ Watt joined The Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday to come to his brother's defense. JJ went on a passionate rant as he defended his brother. He absolutely tore into Eluemunor, calling out both his pregame bravado and his postgame remarks.
"What are we doing here man? What are you doing? You gave up the strip-sack fumble that lost the game," JJ said. "Whatβs wrongβ¦ like what are we doing here man?"
JJ found it annoying that Eluemunor couldn't take the high road after the game. What frustrated him most was the big contrast in how TJ and Eluemunor handled the postgame situation.

While Eluemunor remained cocky and stubborn, TJ chose to rise above the noise, acknowledging he heard the comments, but expressing that every player is entitled to their feelings.
"This is the thing that frustrates me about that," JJ said. "Before the game, the guy says I want to be on an island all game long with TJ. TJ goes out there has seven tackles, two sacks, forced fumble, strip sack, wins the game. Guy was on an island, one on one on the island, thatβs your job. With the game on the line, most important play of the entire game you didnβt do it."
JJ also made it a point to emphasize that Eluemunor's postgame comments were simply inaccurate.
"And then this guy two days later comes out and says he locked him all game," JJ said. "Well, no you didnβt. You would have won the game if you locked him up all game."
Eluemunor's comments have rubbed many Steelers fans the wrong way. While players are certainly entitled to their opinions, his remarks about TJ's impact after the game were particularly frustrating.
Eluemunor claimed that TJ didnβt do anything during the game, which JJ found comical, especially since the biggest play came when Eluemunor got exactly what he wanted: TJ on an island. In that crucial moment, he failed to contain TJ, effectively costing the Giants the game.
JJ acknowledged that playing tackle is no easy task, requiring near-perfection throughout the game. Despite Eluemunor feeling he performed well against TJ for most of the matchup, the reality is that in the most significant moment, he lost that battle. This clearly indicates that TJ got the upper hand, and it wasn't even close.
Steelers' TJ Watt Continues To Get Fed Extra Motivation From Opponents
TJ was dominant against the Giants, and while Eluemunor had a few solid reps, itβs evident who truly controlled the matchup. Every week, an opposing offensive lineman provides TJ with bulletin board material, and he responds with humble determination.

Opponents would be wise to reconsider giving TJ extra motivation, as he consistently rises to the occasion.
