Steelers CB Beanie Bishop Jr. Has Bold Plan To Stand On Division Rival's Logo: "I Promise You"

The Pittsburgh Steelers have never been one to shy away from any animosity during an AFC North showdown. Things got chippy during each of their latest meetings with the Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, and Baltimore Ravens within the last three weeks. The Steelers' defense in particular always seems to kick it up a notch during a battle with their rivals, and rookie cornerback Beanie Bishop Jr. recently revealed his plan on making his mark in the historic division.

One of the most classic moments of all-time in the National Football League goes back to when Terrell Owens stirred things up between the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers. The former 49ers wide receiver caught two touchdown passes and each time ran all the way to midfield to stand on Dallas' star logo.

Former Pittsburgh linebacker Arthur Moats interviewed Bishop this week before their second matchup with the Browns, and the undrafted rookie cornerback explained his big plans for the future.

"The [Defensive Backs] coach I was telling y'all about when I was at Western Kentucky, he used to always tell me, 'Don't be afraid to stand on the star,'" Bishop told Moats. "You can quote me for later on, whenever I get an interception and a team has a logo in the middle of their field, do not be surprised if you see me standing on the logo in the middle of the field. I promise you, I'm not lying. I really hope it's one of the AFC North games, where we're on the road. And I end the game and just be able to stand on the logo. It just means more in divisional games."

After the Steelers have already traveled to Cleveland and Cincinnati this season, Bishop's last upcoming chance will come in Baltimore in just a couple of weeks, where the Steelers could clinch the AFC North title. If Bishop doesn't come through against the Ravens, he'll likely be waiting until 2025 to accomplish his plan.

A plan like Bishop's is one that could certainly start a huge commotion in a game against a division rival. There aren't many teams or players in the NFL that will take that sort of disrespect, but regardless, Bishop still plans to make his mark in the AFC North.

Bishop has been solid as Pittsburgh's slot cornerback, as he's collected 36 total tackles, three interceptions, and six pass deflections so far, despite starting off the season extremely slow. Bishop hasn't had as many opportunities as early on now that Cameron Sutton is back from his eight-game suspension. Bishop and Sutton have flip-flopped here and there for the Steelers' defense, and both have performed seemingly well. Sutton had his best game of 2024 in last week's win over Cincinnati with two pass deflections and four tackles.

Steelers Vs Ravens In Week 16 Becomes More Interesting With Beanie Bishop's Plan

If the Steelers can take down the Browns at home this weekend, then Pittsburgh will be in position to claim the AFC North title over Baltimore in Week 16. If the Ravens lose to Pittsburgh, but win the remainder of their games, they'll finish the season at 11-6 with two losses to the Steelers. With a win over Baltimore and another over either the Browns, Bengals, Philadelphia Eagles, or Kansas City Chiefs, the Steelers will have enough to win the division for the first time since 2020

Hypothetically, if Bishop were to seal the game against Baltimore with an interception and stand on the Ravens' logo while clinching the division title, a huge scuffle could potentially break out. Tensions are always high during AFC North matchups, and it would already be a devastating loss for Baltimore.
