The Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens are heading into their playoff matchup with completely opposite momentum. The Ravens ended their season on a high note, clinching the AFC North title after a strong finish, while the Steelers limped into the postseason on a four-game losing streak. Despite oddsmakers listing Pittsburgh as nearly 10-point underdogs, this rivalry has always defied conventional expectations, making this game anything but predictable.

The Ravens will be without Pro Bowl wide receiver Zay Flowers, leaving a significant gap in their offense. To compensate, tight end Isaiah Likely will be expected to shoulder more responsibility and play a critical role against a tough Steelers defense. Likely has stepped up in key moments this season and now faces the challenge of helping Baltimore maintain their momentum in Flowers' absence.
During The Lounge Podcast, Likely discussed the Ravens’ mindset as they prepare for the postseason. His comments highlighted Baltimore’s focus and determination to make the most of their late-season surge. With both teams bringing their trademark intensity, this playoff clash promises to be a classic in the storied Steelers-Ravens rivalry.
"Everybody's preaching a rock-paper-scissors fight where everybody's throwing rock," Likely said. "Those are the type of games you live for. There's no better way to do it when it's prime under the lights, at [Baltimore], with a division rival."
Likely has enjoyed a highly productive 2024 season, recording 42 catches for 477 receiving yards and six touchdowns. That’s an impressive stat line for a backup tight end, especially given his knack for stepping up in big moments. He proved to be a thorn in the Steelers’ side during their last matchup, hauling in a crucial touchdown.

The Steelers and Ravens split their 2024 regular-season series, with each team securing a win. Now, with everything on the line, Likely recognizes the stakes are higher than ever. Facing the Steelers for a third time, he understands that this playoff showdown will bring a whole new level of intensity.
"Understanding that we both know each other, this is the third time we're gonna play, so now it comes down to who wants it more," Likely said.
The intensity of this rivalry comes from the respect and excellence both organizations uphold. Each team understands the importance of culture and a winning mindset, which is why this game will be a battle no matter what the oddsmakers predict.

As Mike Tomlin would say, if you’re a blinker, cut your eyelids off—this game is going to require every ounce of effort for all 60 minutes.
Steelers' Defense Will Have A New Game Plan Without Zay Flowers Playing For The Ravens
The Ravens’ passing and rushing attacks have been impressive in 2024, with Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry leading the charge. Together, they will challenge the Steelers’ defense in every way. With Flowers out, the Steelers can have Joey Porter Jr. shadow Rashod Bateman, allowing Pittsburgh to focus on stacking the box against the Ravens' running game.
However, the real test will be containing Baltimore’s 12 personnel, as Mark Andrews and Likely are set to be the primary weapons in their passing attack. The Steelers will have to be able to do a better job of limiting the two star Ravens tight ends from being big factors in this game.
