Recently, the Pittsburgh Steelers have been exploring the quarterback talent of the upcoming NFL Draft. Pittsburgh is desperately in need of a starting signal-caller for the upcoming season, and one prospect, Shedeur Sanders, has been framed as the best-case scenario should the Steelers draft a quarterback. Despite being widely considered the number two quarterback in the entire draft class, Sanders is projected to fall, making it realistic that the Steelers could land him with the 21st overall pick. Despite the hype surrounding Sanders, his flaws have begun to be discussed more prevalently as the draft draws closer. Radio host Chris Mueller said the Steelers could be in trouble if they draft Sanders for one major reason.

On Tuesday, Mueller said on 93.7 The Fan that Sanders' personality and attitude could cause problems with his potential teammates in Pittsburgh. Mueller argues that Sanders has gotten in trouble before for his ego and that it would be bad for the team culture in Pittsburgh.
"I haven't even talked about his personality yet," said Mueller. "People don't like the way he talked about his teammates at Colorado."
Could Sanders' vocal criticism of his teammates and hot-headed attitude be a detriment in his professional career? It's debatable whether or not some of Sanders' personality traits are an asset or a setback for a young quarterback.

Besides personality concerns, a topic of conversation surrounding Sanders has been the young quarterback's tendency to pat the ball before throwing. Some have called it a non-issue, while others have said the habit could hinder him. Sanders is far from the only quarterback to pat the ball, and it's possible that he is simply subject to more scrutiny as he's the son of Deion Sanders, arguably the greatest cornerback to ever play in the NFL, and a Pro Football Hall of Famer.
There is considerable risk when drafting any player in the first round of the draft. It's not a pick that teams can afford to waste. Steelers fans may be hesitant to take Sanders at 21st overall, as the mistake of taking Kenny Pickett wasn't long ago, and is still fresh in many people's minds. For many, the conversation surrounding Sanders can feel like Deja vu, but the Steelers have made no secret of the team's interest in Sanders as a prospect.
Sanders met with the Steelers for a pre-draft visit, a major move regarding whether or not the quarterback is likely to land in Pittsburgh. While things have begun to look better for Sanders' landing in Pittsburgh, nothing is certain until the draft. There are plenty of quarterback-needy teams that could swipe Sanders before the Steelers are on the clock.

The Steelers have experience with controversial quarterbacks, and Sanders' ego wouldn't be anything the team hasn't seen before. Former Steelers star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was always outspoken. The team is also currently pursuing veteran Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers is notorious for having an ego and is one of the most unique personalities in the NFL. Whether Sanders is arrogant or just confident depends on who you ask. However, at the end of the day, it's nothing the Steelers can't handle.
Steelers Are Still Waiting On Rodgers
Rodgers has seemed like the most likely candidate for the Steelers for a considerable amount of time. He only ignited more speculation after having a six-hour-long visit with the Steelers, only for nothing to come of it. If the Steelers were previously willing to wait for Rodgers to make a decision, it seems like the team is getting impatient. The Steelers could be willing to draft a quarterback, such as Sanders, regardless of what happens with Rodgers.
