The Pittsburgh Steelers have found themselves in a ton of rumors over the last couples of seasons, with the most recent being that the team is interested in acquiring star cornerback Jalen Ramsey from the Miami Dolphins. Ramsey has had a bit of a falling out with the organization, and it seems like the two sides have come to an agreement that moving on is the best thing to do for each sides' futures. Ramsey wants to continue his career and play for a winner, and Miami has not proven that it can become that in the current landscape of the NFL.

Pittsburgh already has Joey Porter Jr. and Darius Slay on the roster, but there is no question that Ramsey would be the best cornerback in Pittsburgh if he was acquired. All three players would still find a way to be on the field, but either Slay or Porter might need to bump inside to slot corner in most packages. It seems like a guarantee that Ramsey will be traded at some point, but star wide receiver Tyreek Hill is trying to keep the team together in Miami, which he stated at Fanatics Fest.
"I’m going to hang out with Ramsey." Hill said. "I’m going to get him back, full-court press, I’m getting him, Ramsey, back in a Dolphins jersey. I don’t care what they say — it’s tampering, whatever, we need Ramsey. He’s a dog. He’s one of the best corners in the league, man. Great leader, great teammate too, though. That’s what he doesn’t get a lot of credit for. We just need him on the Dolphins, man.”
This is an interesting little speech coming from Hill, as it seems like every other week he has a new stance about whether or not he wants to be traded himself. He wants Ramsey to be back in Miami, while there has also been some speculation about Hill getting traded throughout the 2025 offseason. It also isn't anything close to tampering, as the two are still teammates and will be until Ramsey's contract is moved.

Ramsey is still a high-impact player as he enters his thirties. He had two interceptions during the 2024 season with the Dolphins, and he should be able to produce even more if he is playing behind the pass rush of the Steelers. It would arguably the best pass rush he has had throughout his entire professional career, which could force quarterbacks into making quick and poor decisions.
There are some reports out there saying that Ramsey would want to go back to the west coast, specifically back to his former team, the Los Angeles Rams. This is certainly a possibility, but so are the Steelers. Pittsburgh needs to add on offense, but passing up on a player like Ramsey is a hard thing to do.

Steelers Wouldn't Have To Give Up Much To Land Jalen Ramsey
The thought of trading for a player like Ramsey is daunting, but he probably wouldn't cost too much. He is expected to be dealt for a mid-round draft pick, possibly a little bit more if the Dolphins are forced to take on some of the remaining money on his deal. He carries a cap hit of $16.6 million in 2025, $25 million in 2026, $26.8 million in 2027, and $36.1 million in 2028. That is a lot of money, but whoever trades for him will have the option to get out of the deal following the 2025 season.
If the Steelers are truly all in on winning in the 2025 season, which has been the organization's approach up until this point, then they would trade for Ramsey. Porter has been inconsistent at cornerback, and Slay consistently comes out of games due to injury. It is one of the most important positions in football, and having three good players there would be more than ideal.
