The Pittsburgh Steelers have added a lot of new faces to their roster this season, bringing excitement to the team. However, one of the most significant changes has been a complete overhaul of the quarterback room, a position that has faced much scrutiny in recent years and this offseason. After months of speculation and anticipation, the Steelers have now made several crucial moves this offseason, including locking in their quarterback room and building for the future of the position in Pittsburgh.

One of the players generating the most excitement among fans this offseason is rookie quarterback Will Howard, even though he won’t be the starter this year. That position has been secured by veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who was brought in to lead the offense for the upcoming season. Still, Howard has caught the attention of many with his talent and promising future.

Recently, the Steelers published an article highlighting Howard, revealing that Howard takes great pride in the same traits that have defined Steelers football.

"That is one of the things I like to hang my hat on," Howard said. "That grit and toughness is something I am proud of."

The Steelers have always been known for their grit and toughness. It’s what sets them apart and makes them one of the most respected teams in the NFL. Steelers football has never been about flashy plays, it’s about working hard, staying strong, and never giving up, no matter the situation. This mindset has shaped the team’s identity for decades and still today.

This is something that’s especially exciting for Steelers fans, particularly those who are already big fans of Howard. Seeing a young quarterback who embodies the core values of Steelers football, like grit and toughness, gives fans excitement for the future. However, there are still some concerns surrounding Howard and how much he will actually contribute to the team. He was selected in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, much later than many of the top talent quarterback prospects.

While being drafted in the later rounds may raise some eyebrows, it certainly doesn’t rule out the possibility of a successful NFL career. In fact, there’s history of late-round picks defying the odds and going on to have legendary careers in the league. Although Howard likely won’t see the field at all during his rookie season, that doesn’t mean this year won’t be valuable for his development. In a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers expressed genuine excitement about mentoring Howard.

Rodgers signed just a one-year deal with the Steelers, which appears to work out for both sides. During his recent appearance, he also shared that this season will likely be his last in the league, something that didn't come as a surprise to many, as he is 41 years old. However, his excitement about mentoring Howard shows that Rodgers is focused on finishing his own career strong, but he’s also committed to giving back to the team by helping shape its future.

Steelers Have Excitement And Pressure Heading Into The 2025 NFL Season

With all of the major changes the Steelers have made this offseason, there’s a combination of excitement, as well as high expectations surrounding them. While Howard likely won’t see any playing time this season, Rodgers will be under the microscope from the very first snap. Every move he makes will be closely watched by both fans and the media. This makes the upcoming season even more important, not just for Rodgers, but also for Howard, who has the chance to learn and grow behind a future Hall of Famer. The combination of potential, legacy, and uncertainty adds a unique level of excitement to what could be a defining season for both players and the Steelers as a whole.
