The Pittsburgh Steelers just traded for two superstars. The team shocked the football world earlier on Monday morning by sending Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith. The Steelers now find themselves with two elite players at their disposal. Pittsburgh and Miami swapped late round 2027 picks as well, with the Steelers receiving a seventh-rounder in exchange for their fifth-round selection.

With both Smith and Ramsey officially in Pittsburgh, the Steelers now find themselves with one of the deepest tight end rooms in the entire NFL. Smith, who had a career year in 2024, is a talented tight end that should face no problem quickly developing chemistry with Aaron Rodgers. Ramsey, who has widely been considered as one of the better cornerbacks in the league for a number of years now, is a seven-time Pro Bowler who is expected to thrive in Pittsburgh.
As social media continues to run rampant following the blockbuster deal, NFL analyst Darius Butler shared his thoughts on the move.
"Bringing in a guy like Jalen Ramsey, he is a guy that's a needle mover," Butler stated. "He can do everything in the secondary."
Butler then went on to speak about Ramsey handling the "star" role, while also praising the veteran for his ability to impact the game.
"You put him on that Steelers defense, he can be in that star position. He can really impact the run game, and the passing game. Phenomenal, phenomenal player," said Butler.
Entering his 10th season, Ramsey is a seasoned veteran and Super Bowl champion that has proved to make a massive impact at every stage of his career. Many would agree with Butler's comments about Ramsey, as the former Los Angeles Rams defensive back played a major role in their 2021 Super Bowl run as well. A three-time First Team All-Pro, Ramsey should fit in perfectly on a Steelers defensive unit that will feature multiple new faces in 2025.

Smith, a Pro Bowler in 2024, is expected to impact the Steelers' offense in multiple ways this season, as the star tight end reportedly may see time at multiple positions. The former Dolphin is a fast and elusive target that could potentially play in the slot as well, as Smith finds himself entering a loaded tight end room that already features Pat Freiermuth and Darnell Washington. With both Smith and Ramsey officially in Pittsburgh, fans should continue to keep a close eye on the Steelers' front office as another move could potentially be made in the near future.
Steelers May Add Wide Receiver Depth Following Blockbuster Deal
With Fitzpatrick officially in Miami for a second stint and both Ramsey and Smith in Pittsburgh, the Steelers are rumored to still have interest in multiple free agent wide receivers. One name who continues to find himself linked to the Steelers is former Jacksonville Jaguars wideout, Gabe Davis. Davis had what many considered to be a down year during his lone season in Jacksonville, as the veteran deep threat will look to bounce back in major fashion in 2025.

According to ESPN's Jeremey Fowler, Davis is still a legitimate option for Pittsburgh. Davis reportedly really enjoyed his visit with the team, as the free agent wide receiver is expected to take his time and sign with an NFL club closer to the start of training camp. As Davis continues to take his time throughout his free agency process, the Steelers now find themselves with another elite tight end at their disposal in Smith. Davis could potentially be the last piece to the puzzle in the Steel City.
