The Pittsburgh Steelers have dealt with multiple significant injuries to the offensive line over the course of the last few seasons. The unit upfront was hit with an injury bug this offseason as well, as Calvin Anderson was sidelined with an injury that kept him out for the entire preseason. Anderson was signed last year after a season ending injury to Troy Fautanu and will now look to get as healthy as possible prior to Week 1.

Anderson signed a two-year deal with the Steelers this offseason. The offensive tackle appeared in just four games last season and was underwhelming at times. Pittsburgh still lacks depth on the offensive line, despite signing Anderson, as multiple ideal depth options remain available following the finalization of 53-man rosters around the league.
The Steelers could find themselves interested in former Pitt star Carter Warren following his release from the New York Jets earlier on Tuesday.

Warren appeared in 14 games over the past two seasons with the Jets. A fourth-round pick in 2023, Warren found himself playing behind multiple tackles on the depth chart and should be able to find a new team relatively quickly. He started just one game for the Jets last season, but the former Pitt star could still prove to be an excellent depth piece on the Steelers' offensive line.

Warren was unable to win the Jets' swing tackle job and the team wasn't able to trade the lineman leading to his release. Warren started in 39 of the 40 games he appeared in throughout his time at Pitt, and the offensive tackle was a focal point on the Panthers' offensive line for four seasons. The Steelers may show interest in the former Jet as a reliable depth option, but Warren will more than likely find himself on a roster within the final days leading up to Week 1.
Steelers' Release Of Dylan Cook Potentially Clears A Path To Sign Carter Warren
The Steelers announced earlier on Tuesday that the team would be parting ways with offensive tackle Dylan Cook. Cook was signed as a depth offensive tackle and would have played a similar role as Carter would have, presumably working as a swing tackle and a depth piece for the majority of the season. Cook's departure from the team could clear a lane to sign Carter as Pittsburgh is expected to continue evaluating the available offensive linemen in free agency and off the waiver wire.

Cook spent the majority of the 2024 season on the Steelers' practice squad and was expected to compete with Anderson for the swing tackle role throughout the course of training camp and the entire offseason. Cook's departure could be great news for Warren, as the former Pitt star could be an excellent fit as a depth piece in Pittsburgh.
It's possible Warren may not last on the open market very long as multiple teams could be in the mix to sign him. Cook being cut from the roster could potentially signal towards the signing of Warren, as the former Panther has already proven to have success in Pittsburgh in the past (albeit at the college level). Warren will more than likely find himself on a roster before the time Week 1 rolls around and could emerge as an excellent depth piece as well.
Do you think the Steelers should sign Carter Warren after he was released by the New York Jets? How do you feel about Dylan Cook getting cut from the Steelers' roster before the deadline?
