The Pittsburgh Steelers are getting ready for the 2025 regular season to begin with an away game against the New York Jets. There are plenty of new faces in the Steel City with quarterback Aaron Rodgers and wide receiver DK Metcalf leading the way. Fans remain skeptical about the offensive unit specifically due to the lack of depth in the wide receivers' room. After trading away George Pickens, it seemed as if the team ended up in the exact same spot as it was back in the summer of 2024. General Manager Omar Khan has been reluctant to make one final splash in an effort to add to the group.

It seems as if almost every single wide receiver that may or may not be available via the trade market ends up being connected to the Steelers. It is too late for Khan to acquire someone who would be ready to play in Week 1, but the front office in the Steel City will pay attention to happenings around the NFL throughout the first month or two of the season to gauge whether or not a deal can get done near the deadline.
One interesting situation that has been challenging to follow is in the locker room of the Miami Dolphins. Tyreek Hill ended the 2024 season by essentially saying that he wanted to be traded, but that never came to fruition. Now, as the organization announced its captains for the 2025 campaign, the wide receiver was not listed as one. It's a very notable development because he had been one every year since 2022.
Hill was traded to Miami from the Kansas City Chiefs in March of 2022 and had not missed the honor of being a captain since. It might be a subtle hint that his relationships with his teammates and coaches remains a little bit rocky.

There are not recent reports stating that Hill is on the trade block, which would lead one to believe that he will be suiting up for the Dolphins at the beginning of the season. There is always the possibility that the wideout gets more unhappy as the weeks go on, and that could put the front office for Miami in a tricky situation. After being a captain for three straight seasons, it can't be ignored that Hill was left out of having that role in 2025.

Head Coach Mike McDaniel spoke to reporters on Monday and took the high road when discussing his team's captains for the 2025 season. Instead of discussing the lack of Hill, he wanted to shout out the individuals who did receive the honor.
"It's more about the guys that we picked and not about the guys that we didn't," Mike McDaniel said of Tyreek Hill not being a captain.

There really isn't other way to spin it for the Dolphins. It comes down to the fact that a dynamic playmaker who has been a captain for three seasons is not in his fourth year with the team. After an offseason of turmoil and negative headlines, this is a clear indication that Miami's locker room no longer sees Hill as captain-worthy.
Amidst rumors of his potential trade availability for months, Hill could be shopped soon if things continue to go downhill for him. The Steelers might be the perfect team to jump in.

Steelers Could Look To Trade With Dolphins Once Again
Pittsburgh made a splash to acquire Jonnu Smith and Jalen Ramsey from Miami in exchange for Minkah Fitzpatrick. The late-June trade was considered a blockbuster, and now the two organizations could partner up once again. If Hill stirs up negative headlines early on in the 2025 campaign and a change of is looked at as beneficial, Khan and the Steelers might be the first franchise to call.
