The Pittsburgh Steelers made a big choice in the 2025 offseason to move on from Justin Fields and Russell Wilson. They decided to go all in on pursuing Aaron Rodgers and ended up signing him to a one-year deal in June 2025 for a maximum value of $13.65 million, with $10 million guaranteed.

Rodgers could have taken more money elsewhere, but chose not to, hoping to help Pittsburgh build the most formidable roster possible for the 2025 season. There is a wave of excitement surrounding Rodgers and this new-look Steelers team, but no one truly knows what to expect.
Former Steelers rival and in the minds of many the greatest quarterback to ever play the game, Tom Brady spoke on the Pro Football Focus on Sunday about Rodgers and the Steelers. Brady noted that while Rodgers is still capable of playing at an elite level, the fit in Pittsburgh will depend on how quickly the veteran quarterback can adapt to Arthur Smithโs offensive system.
"We all have to evolve and grow," Brady said. "Some of it is more mentally. How do we make the game a little more simple for ourselves so that we can execute faster? And then emotionally, how do we connect with our teammates and bring that competitive positive attitude to work every single day? And sometimes when you go through tough times like he did with the Jets, you know you get reinvigorated by going to another organization like the Steelers that has had so much consistency in their success and that could allow Aaron to achieve what he hopes to go out on the highest of possible notes."
He acknowledged that the Steelers' roster is talented enough to contend in the AFC, but cautioned that chemistry takes time, especially with Rodgers stepping into a new locker room after so many years with the Green Bay Packers and his short stint with the New York Jets. Though he does believe the challenges that Rodgers faced in New York during the 2024 season could help him in 2025.

Brady also emphasized the pressure Rodgers will face in Pittsburgh, a franchise with a rich tradition of demanding championships and a fan base eager to see the Lombardi Trophy return to the Steel City.
"So I get to cover them and I am sure you get to cover them a little bit," Brady mentioned. "It would be my first time covering Aaron from a broadcaster and sitting up in the booth. I am really excited to see what he does this year."
Brady offered praise for the Steelers' aggressive approach, saying that teams with strong defenses and physical playstyles are often the best landing spots for older quarterbacks.
Tom Brady Thinks Steelers Could Be Dangerous With Aaron Rodgers In 2025
Brady highlighted Rodgers' intelligence and leadership as key factors that could elevate the Steelers' offense, particularly with a hopeful new running game and superstar DK Metcalf at wide receiver. While Brady stopped short of making bold predictions, his comments made it clear that he believes Pittsburgh could be dangerous if Rodgers stays healthy and embraces the challenge of competing in the AFC North.

Rodgers' arrival also changes the AFC North dynamic, putting even more pressure on the Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, and Baltimore Ravens to adjust. His presence forces defenses to prepare for a quarterback who can still dissect coverages with precision.
If the Steelers' offensive line holds up, Rodgers could give the franchise its best championship chance in quite some time. All eyes are on Rodgers and Brady is very excited to watch the Steelers in the 2025 NFL season.
