The Pittsburgh Steelers' fan base was super eager to see how this new look offense would look in Week 1 against the New York Jets. Well, Aaron Rodgers lit up MetLife Stadium as he led the Steelers to a 34-32 win over the Jets on Sunday. New Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf made his debut in this game and made his impact felt playing a big role in the Pittsburgh Week 1 win. Metcalf had four catches for 83 receiving yards. He was targeted seven times.

Rodgers looked sharp in his first regular season game with Pittsburgh, moving the ball with efficiency and showcasing the firepower this offense can bring. Metcalf’s physical presence was impossible to ignore, creating mismatches and forcing the Jets to adjust their coverage throughout the game. Even though he made several big plays, Metcalf wasn’t completely satisfied with his performance, pointing out that there were still opportunities left on the field.
After the win, Metcalf spoke on ESPN to reporter Courtney Cronin about his Steelers debut. While he expressed excitement over starting the season with a victory, he was clear that his personal expectations are even higher. He admitted he wants to clean up the little details, finish more plays, and strengthen his connection with Rodgers as the season progresses. That mindset, paired with his production in Week 1, shows just how valuable Metcalf could be to this Steelers offense moving forward.
"You know, this was our first time lining up as a complete offense out there on the field," Metcalf told Cronin after the 34-32 win over the Jets in Week 1. "There was some growing pains, but you know, we worked through it on the sideline, communication, talking inside the locker room. It just came to fruition out here on the field."
The Steelers were comfortable paying Metcalf such a hefty sum because they value his mentality. That was evident after the game when he revealed that even after an 83-yard performance, he wasn’t satisfied, knowing he had more to give.

That’s the type of wide receiver the Steelers have in Metcalf, and it’s sure to fire up the fan base. Metcalf is hopeful to have an even greater game in Week 2 against the team that drafted him in the Seattle Seahawks.
"Yeah, we can do better," Metcalf said. "I am mad at myself at a few of them. Drops, I gotta be better."
Metcalf was electric when the football was in his hands. His speed and ability to make plays after the catch are a big win for this Arthur Smith offense and for Rodgers as well.

He even made a heads-up play when a pass ricocheted off his hands to tight end Jonnu Smith before ultimately finding its way back to Metcalf. That was a critical play and one of the fortunate breaks that went the Steelers’ way.
Steelers' DK Metcalf Set To Torture His Former Team
Metcalf wasn’t happy with the drops and knows he can’t afford them. That mindset is a strong trait for a wide receiver of his caliber, someone who has already accomplished so much in the league. He is far from satisfied and is eager to show he has many more exciting performances ahead.

It’s obvious that Metcalf is a heck of a human being and teammate. He says the right things, works hard, stays humble, and leads by example. With that being said, Metcalf also has a dawg mentality. He won’t be gentle on his former team when they come to the Steel City. Look for Metcalf to have an even bigger game in Week 2.
