The Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing to travel overseas to Ireland to take on the Minnesota Vikings in Week 4 of the 2025 NFL season. This is a highly anticipated matchup due to Pittsburgh having a large fan base in Ireland and the franchise having so many connections with that part of the world. The Steelers will be squaring off against a 2-1 Vikings team that is currently being led by Carson Wentz at quarterback while JJ McCarthy is dealing with an ankle sprain. That fact alone should make some think the Steelers will win the matchup, but it is going to be a tough game to come out of victorious.

This is the first international game for the Steelers since the 2013 season when the franchise squared off against the Vikings again in London. Pittsburgh lost that game, and it is looking for revenge here in 2025. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers will also be looking for revenge as his game against the Vikings overseas during the 2024 season was the worst he had throughout his time with the New York Jets. The Jet ands Vikings battled in London, and Minnesota's Defensive Coordinator Brian Flores seemed to have Rodgers' number throughout the contest according to ESPN's Dan Graziano.

"This week will be interesting, with the Steelers playing the Vikings in Dublin," Graziano wrote. "Last year, the game the Jets played in London against the Vikings and Brian Flores' defense was one of Rodgers' worst of the season, with three sacks and three interceptions. Flores surely knows how the Steelers have been operating and will work to confuse the veteran quarterback into mistakes the way he did last season."

Rodgers has played decently so far in the 2025 season, but there have been instances where he has been careless with the football. He has only thrown three interceptions through three games, but there have been some dropped picks as well that have been concerning. Flores is known as one of the best defensive coordinators in the NFL, and he has plenty of talent on the defensive side of the ball in Minnesota.

Flores knows Pittsburgh well, as many fans remember him from his stint as a defensive assistant back in 2022. Thankfully the Steelers have a new offensive system in place now, but Flores still certainly has some insight into how Head Coach Mike Tomlin likes to operate. His defense has recently gone viral for the way it is able to disguise coverages and trick opposing offenses, which is something Rodgers is going to need to be cautious of.

Rodgers has plenty of years under his belt as a starting quarterback in the NFL which has led to him acquiring a lot of knowledge about the game, but each week presents its own challenges. Flores is going to make Rodgers work hard to find success on offense, and it could be a long day for that side of the ball in Ireland.

Steelers' Aaron Rodgers Will Look To Avenge Poor 2024 Performance

Rodgers has only faced a defense called by Flores once, and New York lost that game by a score of 23-17. The veteran quarterback completed just over 50 percent of his passes while throwing three interceptions as mentioned. He also fumbled once. Pittsburgh cannot have a repeat performance like that from its quarterback, especially with the defense struggling to begin the year.

Hopefully Rodgers can elevate his performance from the last time he went overseas for a game, as Pittsburgh is going to need it due to its own shaky defense.
