The Pittsburgh Steelers have to be happy that the start to the 2025 season included a record of 3-1 entering the Week 5 bye. The backend of the schedule is not easy, so a solid run early on should help solidify the organization as a part of the AFC playoff picture. In recent years, it seems as if the franchise has been willing to get involved around or at the trade deadline. With General Manager Omar Khan running the show, it can be unpredictable, so fans will be left on the edge of their seats as the very important day on November 4th approaches.

Back in 2024, the Steelers made a couple of moves to try and help the team at the time. Khan acquired wide receiver Mike Williams and edge rusher Preston Smith. Both made some decent contributions after arriving, but neither really moved the needle for the fan base for the majority of the playoff push. It's possible that Pittsburgh is active yet again, and it could be in a more aggressive manner given the current state of the AFC North.
Arguably the most respected insider in the NFL in the present day is ESPN's Adam Schefter. He is on top of news quicker than most, which is why he is a good person to listen to when things heat up near the trade deadline. He said on Tuesday that it could be an incredibly busy month of October for many teams, which is good news for fans in the Steel City that are looking to see Khan be active.
.@AdamSchefter said with us today on @UnSportsESPN that he expects that each Mon and Tues until the trade deadline we are likely to see deals adding up to around 10-12 before the November 4th deadline. https://t.co/bJ4usj8eoU

Schefter joined UNSPORTSMANLIKE on Tuesday to give some sort of idea as to what the trading season may look like. He was clear that it is going to be a pretty wild couple of weeks. The Steelers and Khan should be expected to take some part in the craziness, as Pittsburgh was one of the most newsworthy organizations in all of football throughout the 2025 offseason.

It shouldn't come as a surprise if the Steelers decide to make some kind of trade, but Khan won't be in a hurry to do so. A potential move will have to make sense and the player will have to be the right fit. Injuries can change things very quickly, so it could be a week by week decision when it comes to picking up the phone or not. The AFC seems up for grabs as Week 6 rolls around, so it won't be looked at as a negative if any team comes off as aggressive in pursuit of a specific player or position.
The Steelers could use some help at wide receiver, regardless of what the confidence level is inside the building. Giving Aaron Rodgers one more formidable option in the passing game could unlock the offense and help it get to another level. Defensively, reinforcements on the defensive line wouldn't hurt, as not being able to stay fresh and stop the run down the stretch is what hurt Pittsburgh in 2024.

Steelers Could Get Aggressive Soon If Khan Wants To
Pittsburgh has the draft capital to work with if the front office does want to acquire a player or two as the month of October rolls along. As Schefter pointed out, there could be deals happening every week moving forward until the trade deadline hits. The Steelers are in perfect position to capitalize on a weak AFC North division, and could be in a great spot to make an aggressive move that would help catapult them to being a contender.
