The Pittsburgh Steelers have gotten off to a great start to the 2025 season as the team currently sits atop the AFC North and near the top of the AFC as a whole with a 4-1 record. Despite the good start however, there are some clear areas where the team has to improve as the year continues to move along and the schedule gets tougher. One of those areas is the offensive line, which does look better than it looked back in Weeks 1 or 2. Aaron Rodgers needs to be well-protected, and Pittsburgh has to be able to move the ball on the ground.

The Steelers have a young group on the offensive line outside of left guard Isaac Seumalo. The rest of the group is on their rookie deals, with the center and entire right side of the line being in their second season. These are important, developmental years for these players, and many fans and insiders have expressed worry with Offensive Line Coach Pat Meyer. Fans have been wanting him fired for some time now, and an immediate upgrade just became available if Pittsburgh decides it wants to move on following the 2025 season.

Bill Callahan is an offensive line coach who recently held the role for the Tennessee Titans, but he is leaving the team according to Paul Kuharsky of paulkuharsky.com (a site covering the Titans).

"Bill Callahan, the veteran offensive line coach who left the Browns to join his son's staff in Nashville in 2024, is leaving the team after it fired his son, Head Coach Brian Callahan," Kuharsky wrote.

Bill is the son of Brian Callahan, who took over as the head coach of the Titans prior to the 2024 season. Tennessee did not have a good season in 2024, as the organization earned the first overall pick, and the 2025 season is not going well either as the team only has one win on the year. Brian was fired on Monday, and Bill is making the decision to leave the organization in solidarity with his son.

Bill is considered one of the best offensive line coaches working in the league, and that is an area the Steelers certainly need help in. The young core the franchise has on the offensive line is important to the future success of the organization, and it is important they are being led in the right direction. There has been too much pointing to the contrary with Meyer running the show on the offensive line, which is why this might be a necessary change after the 2025 season comes to a close.

Player development has been questioned for years along the offensive line. Players have been accused of using poor technique, and the issue doesn't often get fixed. Bill might be the answer to Pittsburgh's problems.

Steelers Could Also Use Brian Callahan In Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh's offense is showing great signs of life and adaptability during the 2025 season, and that could mean Arthur Smith might get another shot as a head coach in the NFL. The Titans' vacancy is one that could be interesting for both sides considering the fact that Smith worked for the franchise for nearly a decade. If he decides to pursue head coaching again, Pittsburgh is going to need to find another offensive coordinator. Brian could fill that role, as he was one of the best in the league in that area before becoming a head coach.

This would bring both Bill and Brian to Pittsburgh, which could be helpful for the offense as a whole, especially if the organization loses Smith.
