In recent seasons, it seems as if fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers have been begging for trade deadlines to come and go. The organization has consistently been involved in trade rumors, and when that happens, typically, nothing comes to fruition. General Manager Omar Khan has made his biggest splashes when no one is expecting them. With the 2025 regular-season deadline approaching, analysts are theorizing that the front office in the Steel City could be in the market for a wide receiver. Nothing has transpired just yet, but the rumor mill is swirling.

DK Metcalf is the unquestioned top receiver in Pittsburgh, but the Steelers could use a little bit more help around him. Additionally, an aggressive trade made prove to be worth it if the team's star wideout needs to miss any time during the season because of an injury. Everything is on the table, and the organization doesn't have too much time left to make a deal.
Appearing on Sportscenter on Saturday morning, respected NFL insider Jeremy Fowler went into detail about what fans of the league can expect as the trade deadline inches closer.

Fowler talked about a few franchises, and the Steelers were one of the teams that he highlighted specifically. He went a step further than the typical reports, however, claiming that Khan and co. are starting to look anywhere and everywhere.
"Pittsburgh. They are scouring the earth for wide receiver help," Fowler said. "They are looking around. Las Vegas' Jaokbi Meyers is an option. Teams are calling about Miami's Jaylen Waddle, but the Dolphins haven't showed they want to do anything yet, but there could be a receiver moved at the deadline. Pittsburgh could be involved in those conversations."
Scouring the earth is a very interesting phrase to use. It seems as if the Steelers are leaving no stone left unturned. If there is a wide receiver that fits the mold and can help the team win come December and January, he could find himself playing in the black and gold in just a couple of weeks. Pittsburgh could be waiting a little it longer to see how the next week or two of games go, as well.

Metcalf has had a very respectable first season in the Steel City, but having a true partner-in-crime could take his game to a new level. The Steelers are expected to have Calvin Austin III return in Week 8, so a very strong performance from him could result in Khan having some hesitation about giving up draft capital. Overall, though, acquiring another talented route-runner can only help the Steelers' chances moving forward.
Fowler focused on the edge rusher market a little during his segment, but it appears that the league as a whole is holding off on making any significant trades. Teams are waiting it out.
Part of reason trade market is slow currently is because teams open to dealing pass rushers are asking for a good return. Interested teams are waiting it out, hoping to give up less. Feels like a later market as it stands. https://t.co/wHKTXq7RqM

The Steelers are going to be a team to keep an eye on in the coming couple of weeks, so fans should be on the edge of their seats waiting to see if any kind of beneficial offer comes Khan's way.

Steelers Learned How Unpredictable The NFL Is Close To 2024 Trade Deadline
About a year ago, Pittsburgh was rumored to be heavily interested in then-Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Christian Kirk. Reports came out after the receiver suffered a devastating injury that Khan was very close to acquiring the pass-catcher. Injuries are a part of professional play, but it's always a bit nerve-racking that plans can go awry at any given moment.
