The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off a dominant win against the Indianapolis Colts by a score of 27-20, playing one of the most complete games all season up to this point, bringing the white-hot Colts back down to earth in an exhilarating matchup that not many around the league expected the Steelers to win.

Across the board, the Steelers put up an impressive performance, but one particular player didn't exactly pop out on the stat sheet after the game concluded. That player is current Steelers cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who ended the game against the Colts registering five tackles without an interception, sack, or forced fumble. Compared to some of his other performances in past weeks, this last performance would seem like a decline, which naturally drew questions from reporters during Ramsey's latest media availability.
Ramsey spoke to the media and gave a very interesting remark about how he views his performances and what his plan is moving forward.
"Like I told y'all from the very first time I ever spoke to y'all, I'm willing to do whatever it takes for this team to be better and win games," said Ramsey.
Ramsey's comments come on the heels of a game in which Steelers Defensive Coordinator Teryl Austin had Ramsey line up at safety, something Ramsey hadn't had much experience with before joining the Steelers, and still impacted the game in a big way. Austin himself even remarked that Ramsey's physical style of play at safety is something other teams in the NFL should fear, giving Ramsey even more praise for how he's been able to contribute since joining the team. Ramsey's motivation is another key component in what will make both himself and the defense itself successful in future weeks as well, and could potentially mean Ramsey might play at safety more often.

With Ramsey being as motivated as he is to ensure the team wins games, this kind of energy will be something that the team needs to harness as they move forward through the schedule. The Steelers have a slew of difficult matchups coming up in the next few weeks, starting with another Sunday Night Football matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers and featuring some of the NFL's best wide receivers. Ramsey will have his work cut out for him as he lines up across from top talent, and his contributions will be important to the team overall.
Despite how good the Steelers' defense looked against the Colts and how punishing Ramsey was on defense, Ramsey's comments about doing whatever it takes to help the team win will be relevant in another way. The Steelers have put up some impressive performances, but have also looked completely lifeless in other weeks. This issue is something the Steelers desperately need to address.
Steelers' Defense Needs To Find Consistency
Ramsey moving around the defense has only been one attempt by Austin to help the Steelers' defense maintain a level of consistency that they haven't been able to maintain in recent weeks. If Ramsey wants to ensure that the team has the best possible chance of winning each week, it could involve him spending even more time at safety instead of cornerback, as Ramsey was incredibly effective at safety. This is also a crucial move due to the injuries the Steelers have suffered in the secondary, which allows for others to see the field more consistently to replace injured players.

Regardless of if Ramsey's switch from cornerback to safety is an attempt to maintain consistency or not, Ramsey will surely be willing to adapt to whatever he needs to do to ensure the Steelers have the best chance to win games. His comment about winning games is something that can hopefully rub off on his teammates, creating a winning culture in the locker room.
