Not much went right for the Pittsburgh Steelers during their 25-10 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday night. It was a dreadful performance for the Steelers offense as the unit compiled only 221 total yards, and it was undoubtedly the worst outing of the season from quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Steelers never found a rhythm, and their inability to extend drives kept sending the defense back onto the field. It was a combination of many different things that went wrong for the Steelers, and, all in all, it was a recipe for their fourth loss of the season.

Rodgers completed 16 of 31 passes for 161 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. It was his third multi-interception game of the season, and just the second time this year he's thrown for less than 200 yards. The Steelers defense kept the group competitive for the first three quarters, but Pittsburgh's inability to get rolling on offense allowed the Chargers to eventually run away in the fourth quarter.
During his post-game press conference, Rodgers was quick to place the blame on himself, first noting the lack of energy within the offense.
"I felt like our energy, and it starts with me, just wasn't as great on offense. I felt like we were just struggling a little bit and couldn't get a play to get going," Rodgers said. "We had so many three and outs, and we hurt ourselves with a couple of penalties, and I didn't play good at all. I got to play better."
We've seen the Steelers offense have its share of hiccups in 2025, but, when in doubt, a big run by Jaylen Warren or a deep ball to DK Metcalf could give the group a spark, but that never happened on Sunday night. Los Angeles held Metcalf to just 35 yards on three receptions, and although he had some nice runs, Warren finished the night with just 70 rushing yards.

The Steelers went three-and-out three times, Chris Boswell missed a field goal, and Rodgers even took a sack in the end zone for a safety in the first half. It just seemed as if nothing was working, or nothing could go right for the black and gold. Pittsburgh had some opportunities to make some plays in the first half, but Rodgers missed Metcalf on a deep throw near the end zone, and he would later miss a wide-open Jonnu Smith that would've set the Steelers up in the red zone.
"A lot of stuff wasn't working, we were bad on third down. I was just a little bit off. I missed DK early, could've been a big play. [Threw] a little high to Jonnu. We didn't run the ball super effectively in the first half. I missed obviously some throws for sure," Rodgers said.
Although it wasn't a perfect performance by the Steelers' defense, the collective managed to keep the game close until the final quarter. It was able to give the offense opportunities to make it a game, but it simply came down to the fact that Rodgers and the offense couldn't put anything together.

Steelers Still Sit In First Place Of The AFC North Division
Their seat might not be as comfortable as it was a month ago, but the Steelers are indeed still sitting in first place in the AFC North. Not to long ago the Steelers were 4-1 and the Baltimore Ravens were 1-5, but fast forward to today and the Steelers' lead has shrunken to one game with the Ravens winning three in a row.
"We got four division games left to play, it's a long season," Rodgers said.
Pittsburgh has a big division game coming up next week as they host the Cincinnati Bengals at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday. The Steelers still control their own destiny, but there is a lot of football left to be played.
