Steelers' Aaron Rodgers Takes Wild Shot From Former Teammate Sauce Gardner

The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off of their worst performance of the 2025 season as the team fell to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday night by a score of 25-10. Things were ugly, and Aaron Rodgers had his worst game of the season by far. He looked uncomfortable in the pocket and his passes were off throughout the entire night. The veteran also took a safety and threw two interceptions in the game, and it is always hard to win a contest when things like that are happening. He had been having a good season up until this worrisome performance.

Pittsburgh's pursuit of Rodgers during the 2025 offseason was highly questioned as he was coming off of two rough years with the New York Jets. He suffered a brutal season ending injury in 2023, and his performance in 2024 was rough, although it got better as the season went on. The Jets still were not very competitive, and the team is a dumpster fire again in 2025 as it traded some of its best players at the deadline. One of those players was Rodgers' former teammate Sauce Gardner, who was dealt to the Indianapolis Colts for two first round picks and AD Mitchell.

Gardner got a win with the Colts on Sunday, and he posted to social media on Tuesday to celebrate the victory with a carousel of pictures from the game -- along with a zoomed in picture of Rodgers.

This is an odd post considering the two have not been on the same team since the 2024 season, and it was always thought that the two were on great terms -- even after Rodgers was released by New York. It could be that they are still good friends and Gardner is just making a light-hearted joke, but it is still a bizarre post.

Just posting the picture of Rodgers would not have made the post seem too targeted, but the cornerback also included "The Standard Is The Standard" in the caption. It seems like this post has to be a shot at the quarterback and the Steelers, who happened to beat the Colts the week before Gardner was acquired by the organization.

The Steelers have actually beaten Gardner's teams twice in the last two seasons. The Steelers opened the 2025 season with a win over the Jets and Gardner, as the offense for Pittsburgh was able to pick apart the Jets' defense. Pittsburgh also took down the Jets during the 2024 season. There is a small chance the Steelers and the Colts could meet again during the postseason, and that matchup would have some storylines surrounding it as Gardner would certainly be looking for an opportunity to pick off Rodgers in the playoffs.

Steelers' Aaron Rodgers Isn't On The Best Terms With Some Former Teammates

Rodgers seemed to be a good teammate during his time in New York, but things definitely got frustrating as the team continued to lose during the 2024 season. Rodgers and Gardner never had any public beef, but it has been made clear that Rodgers and his former wide receiver Garrett Wilson no longer speak and things did not end well between the two. It was reported ahead of the 2025 season that Rodgers and Wilson grew apart throughout the 2024 season, and the two were not exactly friends when the season came to an end. Wilson seemingly doesn't like Rodgers for whatever reason, and maybe Gardner feels the same way, it just hasn't been made as public.

The post on social media is rather innocent, although it is weird and a bit random. It can be chalked up as two friends just having some fun, but maybe there is something more there.
