The Pittsburgh Steelers currently have a 6-6 record through 12 games and the future is looking pretty bleak for the team as it has been struggling on both sides of the ball. The Steelers are still alive in the race for the AFC North crown, and the organization controls its own destiny in that regard as it has two games left against the Baltimore Ravens. Other teams in the AFC North having down years has kept Pittsburgh's playoff hopes alive, but it is clear to see that the team is underperforming, and it has no real chance to make any noise if it somehow sneaks into the postseason, playing the way they're currently playing.

Pittsburgh's most recent loss came to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday evening as Pittsburgh fell by a score of 26-7. The Steelers scored the first touchdown of the game off of a turnover by the Bills, but Buffalo went on to score the next 26 points and run away with the contest. Things got ugly in the second half of the game as the Steelers were put away by the Bills and completely embarrassed. Boos rained down from the crowd at Acrisure Stadium and fans began to chant to fire Head Coach Mike Tomlin. Insider Gerry Dulac was asked if ownership takes note of those types of things happening during an appearance on 102.5 WDVE.
"There's no question the whole thing is disappointing and frustrating for them," Dulac said. "The one thing that will get an owner's attention, I think the Green Bay game, when there were so many Packers fans, meaning obviously Steelers fans were selling their tickets. So that and the disgruntlement of fans."
The fan base in Pittsburgh made a statement on Sunday against the Bills as boos and chants could be heard through the broadcast on television. It is clear the fan base is sick and tired of the way the team has been run, and immediate change is desired. Fans don't even care about making the postseason anymore it seems, they just want the organization to start building towards becoming a product Pittsburgh can be proud of again.

Team President and Owner Art Rooney II not being happy with the way things are going with his organization might get some fans excited that a potential Tomlin firing could be coming after the season. However, Tomlin is under contract through the 2027 season, and ownership does not like to pay someone not to coach for the team. Tomlin could very well ride out his current deal in Pittsburgh, which is a real possibility as Dulac doesn't expect much change.
"I don't think that's going to change anything, but there's no question it has to get their attention," Dulac said. "Because that's the last thing you want, to lose your fan base. They're well aware. Every owner is aware of that when they start seeing, not that there's empty seats at Acrisure, but you get my point. If you're gonna start selling it to the other team, and they're hearing that, that gets their attention."
There was a noticeable lack of Pittsburgh fans in Acrisure Stadium during the team's Week 8 matchup with the Green Bay Packers. That was somewhat expected as Green Bay has a fantastic fan base that travels well, but it says a lot when Pittsburgh fans are selling their tickets to the competition.

Steelers' Art Rooney II Has To Make Major Changes In The Near Future
This poor reaction from the fan base is going to continue to snowball out of control if Rooney cannot make the necessary changes moving forward and/or the team doesn't start winning again. The fans want, and the organization needs, a rebuild. There is no guarantee it will work immediately, but that is better than continuing to do the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. That's insanity.
