Nothing ever seems to come easy for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and that sure was the case on Sunday afternoon. A Week 14 battle with the Baltimore Ravens was crucial to give a little bit of clarity regarding the AFC North division. Head Coach Mike Tomlin and his team responded well after a lot of criticism, but there were some questionable calls in the game that went the black and gold's way. Overall, the organization now controls its own destiny and path to the playoffs. Veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers also had one of his best games of the season in the 27-22 win.

Despite being 42 years of age, Rodgers is the exact kind of quarterback that the Steelers need. He brings professionalism, accountability and toughness. He has specifically shown that he wants to be on the field at all times, missing just one contest after fracturing several bones in his left wrist. Despite a tough rivalry game in Baltimore, he seemed to have made it out just fine following the victory.
When speaking to reporters after the game, the quarterback admitted that it was good to take some snaps under center during the matchup. However, that wasn't always the plan. Rodgers said that it was roughly 24 hours or less before the contest that he decided that things should be mixed up. It gave fans a good idea of how he may be feeling, and he echoed how beneficial it was on Sunday.
"Just the threat of being under center, I think was nice to not have to, you know, catch a shotgun snap all day and kind of hear a little better at the line of scrimmage [with] some of the calls that were going on," Rodgers said. "That was slightly kind of a rogue decision that I made starting Saturday."
As Rodgers continued to give a bit of an update, he acknowledged that he wore a different cast on Sunday. As he heals up and works to get the wrist to full strength, he is taking whatever his body is giving him. Even though Rodgers had intense discussions with the medical staff, everything he wanted to accomplish on Sunday ended up happening.
"Today, I just went with a soft cast on there as, you know, the bones are healing up and hopefully I can get out of that after some point."
It may be hard to get that left wrist to 100% because he will continue to take hits on a weekly basis, but it's a positive to hear the signal-caller say that it's getting better. If the Steelers want any chance of making some noise in the postseason, Rodgers will need to be as healthy as possible. Per his words on Sunday afternoon, his wrist is getting better as each week passes.

The Steelers will take on the Miami Dolphins in Week 15 during a Monday Night Football showdown. While it's not bye week by any means, it will be good for Pittsburgh to receive an extra day to heal up, especially after a hard-fought AFC North win. At his age, Rodgers will take whatever he can get, so even if it is just 24 or so more hours of preparation and recovery, it will without a doubt benefit the future Hall of Famer.
Steelers Need Rodgers Fully Capable Come January
No one is punching Pittsburgh's ticket to the postseason just yet. Tomlin and co. have been wildly inconsistent throughout the 2025 campaign, but the win over Baltimore cannot be understated.
With the remaining schedule on the Ravens' calendar, a 9-8 record for the Steelers with wins over simply the Dolphins and Cleveland Browns could potentially win the division, regardless of what happens in Week 18. If things go as planned, the organization in the Steel City will need its quarterback to have absolutely no limitations for the first home playoff game in nearly five years.
